Thursday edition: Wha’ happened?
Posted on May 24th, 2007 – 9:01 AMBy Michael Rand
The evening yesterday was rather bland for sports, unless you wanted to watch ESPN’s continuing coverage of YANKEES RED SOX 2007!!!! The daytime, however, was a sports haven. Leading the way was a match we saw mostly on replay last night: AC Milan 2, Liverpool 1 in the Champions League final. Filippo Inzaghi had two delicious goals for Milan, helping the club avenge its infamous choke in 2005, when it blew a 3-0 halftime lead and lost on PKs to Liverpool. We’re quite certain Jon and others will have more to say about breaking down this match in the comments.
Rapid-fire: Also in the afternoon — Joe Nathan is turning into Eddie Guardado with these bizarre, tightrope saves. … Two words: Mission accomplished. Thank goodness that deal was done. You don’t find 12-30 coaches everywhere. … We spent a good chunk of mid-morning and afternoon at Winter Park watching the Vikings’ “Organized Team Activities” (OTA) and putting together this Q&A with new quarterback Tyler Thigpen, an interesting cat who knows exactly what a Chanticleer is. By the way, we saw a lot of receivers drop a lot of passes, but Troy Williamson was not one of them. He caught every ball we saw. The Rice kid from SC looks like a player, too. And we legitimately fear Adrian Peterson’s biceps. Dude’s ripped.
Elsewhere: Grandpa Clemens struggled in Class AA. … Keyshawn wanted 2 years and $12 million from the Titans? That’s a great plan, Keyshawn. That’s [redacted] ingenious, if we understand it correctly. It’s a Swiss [redacted] watch. … Bpar wanted us to get to this story yesterday. Elijah Dukes would just as soon wish we didn’t mention it.
Mystery link! No animals were directly harmed by Ted Nugent in the making of this video. We think.
