Canada’s Ambassador to the United States will be in Minneapolis on June 12 to congratulate one of Canada’s best-known exports, Minnesota Twins first baseman and American League MVP Justin Morneau, and present him with a gift from the Government of Canada.

Ambassador Michael Wilson will be in the Twin Cities to hold a series of meetings and give the keynote address during a public luncheon at the Minneapolis Club on June 13. Co-sponsors of the luncheon are the Minnesota International Center, the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce, and the Consulate General of Canada.

Additional information from the Twins:

The Ambassador will present him with a Canadian flag flown over the Canadian Embassy in Washington, D.C. in his honor.

While Morneau probably would have preferred some Chocolate Cream Maple Cookies, this is still pretty sweet. Apparently this will take place at 3:30 p.m. tomorrow on the Metrodome field. Take that, Anne Murray.
