Monday (time to care again) edition: Wha’ Happened?

If you’re like us, you spend an inordinate amount of time alternately cursing the teams you watch for making you care or making you not care. If you’re also like us, you took Larry Johnson No. 5 overall (!) in your Friday fantasy draft, played golf terribly on Saturday afternoon, played bingo and went to the drive-in movie (Superbad + Bourne Ultimatum = great double-feature) on Saturday night and sang Hole’s “Doll Parts” without a hint of irony during some Sunday karaoke. But we digress. Because throughout a long, strange weekend, the Twins kept hitting the ball and winning games. They are now 5.5 back of Cleveland (would’ve been 4.5 if not for a stupid Indians rally yesterday), with six to play vs. the AL Central leaders (including a three-game set starting tonight). A sweep, or even a well-played two-of-three, and September has that hint of caring about Twins baseball once again. What else is it time to care about again?
*Apparently, it’s time to care about Mark Cuban. He’s going to be on Dancing with the Stars. He’s catching some heat for it over at the Fanhouse, but we will recall an interview we did with him a year or so ago in which he confirmed that he taught disco lessons to help pay his way through college. So let’s cut him a little slack. He can out-dance any number of us, save perhaps for Rocket when he’s in one of those zones.
*Charlie Frye. Start caring about him because he’s like the Game 1 Browns starter over Brady Quinn.
*Michael Vick. Today’s the day he enters his guilty plea. They’re already lining up in Atlanta to see it happen.
*Have something to say about the Vikings? Because we really don’t.
*Mystery link! Then again, you always cared about the Mystery Link. How could you not? (By the way, this gets a lot harder when we can’t get onto youtube. It’s like watching a Packers game and not making a Brett Favre joke).
