Did you get enough to eat, Mr. Dierdorf?

Fasolamatt continues to deliver the links that matter. This one? Dan Dierdorf apparently belched into his microphone at the end of New England’s 34-17 victory over Cleveland.

Sorry for the slow day, by the way. Mondays are, well, a little crazy around here.

I’m only surprised that it was a belch and not a loud, wet fart. Dierdorf seems like the kind of guy who’d be really gassy:

“And Greg, let me just say that Tom Brady is playing at a level that very few quarterbacks have ev–(FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAART)–oh, man, Greg, get a load of that one. I call it the ‘Dierdorfer.’ Don’t make that face at me, tough guy, or I’ll sit on your head next time, just like I did with Lundquist.”

“The Dierdorfer” sounds like a sandwich that would cause said gastrointestinal problem. In other words, it would be the sandwich equivalent of Chipotle.

Sounds like someone has a case of the Mondays.

I reckon I could get my [redacted] kicked for saying something like that.

Ah yes, the Dierdorfer.

Pastrami, sauerkraut, onion, chipotle mayo, and pepperjack cheese, on grilled sourdough garlic bread.

Or maybe just get one an Amighetti Special and ask for extra “special dressing.”

What would you like sir?
A pastrami sandwich…
What kind of bread?
Rye. No, [redacted], banana. You got banana bread?
What kinda cheese?
Cottage.
Get the [redacted] out! I’m not makin’ a banana bread, pastrami, cottage cheese sandwich. That would severely ruin my reputation.

Jon: assuming you weren’t watching Tivo’ed NHL Draft coverage, did you watch the late NFL games yesterday? CBS had Gus Johnson on the Baltimore/San Francisco game. What the hell? An astonishing waste of Gus.

Stu - Where I was sitting, we were stuck with Indy/TB, so while I missed out on my favorite announcer, I did get the pleasure of listening to Phil Simms alternate between blinding flashes of the obvious and confusing, inane storytelling. So that was nice.

I believe the Dierdorfer is on the new menu at Stub n Herb’s — Same great odors, but renamed “The Dan Munson Era”.

Not to be confused with the Diffendoofer, my three year old’s favorite book right now.

The next Stub n Herb’s menu revision will have that same sandwich with extra cheese, renamed “The Tim Brewster Era.”

Once Denver/San Diego went from blowout to savage, merciless beatdown, CBS switched to San Fran/Baltimore, and there was Gus, working to make a silk purse out of that sow’s ear. Like giving Picasso a broken Etch-A-Sketch, it was.

We’ll be hearing less from Jon now that Comcast is picking up the NHL Network.

Seriously? Is there a demand for NHL commentary on television. I mean, it’s only going to carry “some live games”. I like hockey, and I don’t think I’ll be watching that channel. I’d rather Comcast passed on this and picked up Big Ten. You can’t claim the high road by saying that subscribers don’t want sports and then increase rates to add a channel devoted to a single sport. Pretty lame, Comcast. Pret-ty lame.

Jon says:

Dave MN - Considering they own it, I doubt Comcast will be passing on the NHL Network.

Also, given that the NHL Network will be on a digital “extra” tier, I don’t see it as being disingenuous on Comcast’s part. This is what those of us who have the digital sports tier pay for - CSTV and the NFL Network and NBA TV and FSC and all the rest. It’d be an insult if the NHL Network wasn’t included on that tier.

But the Big Ten Network situation is based on the fact that the BTN won’t allow itself to be placed where it belongs, with the rest of the sports channels. Having said that, like you, I want the BTN to be offered, but I wish they’d give it up and let the channel be offered on the sports tier.

I didn’t see the game, but are we sure it was a belch?

Dave MN says:

Jon, I wasn’t aware that Comcast owned the channel nor that it was going on the sports tier. I’ve been educated. It just made me think of the Golf Channel for a moment there (before I had all of the facts).

I don’t know that I really care if the Big Ten thing is on regular cable or not…however, I would have been bothered if Comcast chose to put the NHL network on regular cable but not BTN.

That’s not the case, and now I’m completely indifferent to the fact that the NHL network is coming because I won’t be paying for the digital sports tier anytime soon.
