Roughkat’s Fantasy Recap: best of the best
Posted on October 16th, 2007 – 2:43 PMBy Michael Rand
You know you’ve been waiting all afternoon for Roughkat’s fantasy report. Well, here it is:
Week 6 was the week of the stud player. This generally applied to the RB position. The teams that have the big name running backs tend to win the game. The Sin City Rollers might be coming around to this way of thinking.
Purple Jesus, LT2, MJD — all had huge games and several others (LJ, Ronnie Brown, Edge, Westbrook, Droughns) had solid games of 15 points or more. This is the kind of production that Super Rookie was expecting on a weekly basis. Leagues aren’t won in the first round but they can be lost. Just ask Dave.
Almost half way through the season, the separation between the top and bottom teams is disappearing. Two and a half games separate them. The Underachievers have shown that it just takes a couple of good games to get right back into things. Just 2 weeks ago, Dave, Stu and myself we’re pretty much at the bottom of things, face down in a gutter looking for anything sharp. But now we’re the only teams with anything resembling a winning streak going. Call it parity. Call it a league of mediocrity. Any way you look at it, I say every one of the teams in the RBFFL still has a chance.
BTW — my new plan is to make a trade every week with the last place team. Before it was Dave (I got Steven Jackson, he got Brandon Jacobs). This week I gave away Willis McGahee just before game time in exchange for Marvin Harrison. There’s no doubt in my mind that I had probably the best bench of all-time this week, even if they scored a combined 10 points. It’s all about speculation, both in reality and fantasy. The media and fantasy owners both love to talk up and down about what could-should-might-will happen in the upcoming weeks.
Next week
Bears with Knives vs The Injured Underachievers
Lew Ford & The Elves of Zarnia vs Birddogging the Beaver
TEFOMM vs Team Zissou
RandBall’s Sousaphone Heroes vs Killer Keebler Elvis’
Don Lucia’s Hair vs Sin City Rollers
Questions
1) Do you prefer a stud RB drafter, stud WR, or best available?
2) What’s the best trade you’ve ever made? Worst?
3) Will England repeat in the Rugby World Cup this Saturday or will South Africa win their 2nd title?
4) Did you know that this was the first ever Rugby World cup without either New Zealand or Australia in the final 4?
