———-

It must be winter — college football is over.  Sure, there are bowl games left, but let’s face facts: other than OSU/LSU and maybe the Hawaii game,
is there a single bowl game you are particularly excited to watch?  If it wasn’t for the Vikings making a miracle comeback to relevancy, we’d be in for a long, harsh winter. And the Purple still could disappoint us — in fact, given team history, we might as well
start preparing for it now. So join me, as I attempt to beat back the darkness of winter with a few links:

*Required hockey content: everybody’s favorite Wild beat writer, Michael Russo, is not exactly optimistic about the future of the team. Is Russo the canary in the coal mine?  A 5-0 shellacking at the hands of Detroit last night might support his cause.

*From Awful Announcing: ESPN’s Doug Gottlieb, making some friends.

*I anxiously await the response to Lute Olson’s leave of absence.  Will the same people who raked Troy Williamson over the coals for attending a funeral go after the ‘Zona coach for taking the season off to go to family court?

*From Home Run Derby: Why several teams haven’t hired local, uh, “talent” to do this on a regular basis, I’ll never know. The odds of this video being captured at Fenway were roughly 1-to-450. By the way, the link is safe for just about everybody, unless they are blessed with some kind of random super-vision.

*Warning: this picture may cause laughter and/or choking on spittle.

*And finally: a nice list of 14 ridiculous clauses in baseball contracts.

That’s it from here; enjoy your Saturday.  Keep the faith, and if you have family in Grand Forks, feel free to disown them for the weekend. [Proprietor note: Mom? Check. Dad? Check. Grandma? Check. Brother? Check. Just kidding, family).
