Today’s look back: Post No. 700 from May 2, 2007, back when we still did Movie Quote Wednesday! We combined a quote from Fight Club with this prediction, which proved to be completely wrong:

“It’s only after we’ve lost everything that we’re free to do anything.” Mavs on the brink. A dream season, an MVP season, a LONG season about to go down the drain in the span of one crazy week. They make a run, save the game. Now they’re down 3-2. They win this thing in 7. Mark it.

Um, actually they lost in 6. But hey, at least Jose Canseco is trying to win friends and influence people by insinuating A-Rod is a cheater, too!

Update: Strange but true, for the second day in a row, we’ve had to go back into the Hindsight is 20-20 post with news that the Twins have signed a former Astros infielder. Yesterday it was Adam Everett. This time? Mike Lamb. So there you go.

Part II: And then, of course, there’s the Dwight Smith news.
