Far be it from us to claim Wikipedia as an end-all, be-all source of information, but when a man has a “third retirement” section on his page, it immediately sets off red flags that he might be the kind of guy that changes his mind occasionally. Between the “handshake agreement” with Tampa Bay, the tomfoolery with the Jets and Patriots and the vow almost a decade ago that he would never coach again, Parcells has to rank among the top non-boxing wafflers of all-time. Does anyone rank higher on your list?

This seems to be a fitting time, too, to mention that we snickered politely at the Wade Phillips hiring last February. It’s not quite a hindsight is 20-20 moment, but we have to say we never imagined Phillips would have this level of success.
