000000000001links.jpgIf it’s the weekend, then it’s time for the weekend links — and if you’re reading this, you must already have your Christmas shopping done. If you don’t, well, good luck; they’re talking about snow today, so you put together the Saturday crowds, the holiday crowds, and the “holy [redacted] it’s snowing we must lay in a fortnight’s supplies” crowds, and I’m thinking you might as well stay home today. Send stuff via Amazon. Sure, it’ll get there late, but you can always blame the postal service — *You know, I ordered it early but I guess there’s no trusting that durn gub’mint* — and get it there December 30. That said, if you’re traveling today (sans horse and sleigh, I’m guessing), be careful. There’s nothing worse than starting a holiday vacation in the ditch. Here are a few links to get you through the Festivus weekend:

*Those in possession of now-blinded eyes will have noticed that the Vikings chose to spend Monday night dressed as Barney, clad in purple from head to toe. The news later came out that Pat Williams was behind all of this, leading the Greet Machine to name Williams the Knucklehead McSpazatron of the Week.

*Chris at Western College Hockey has got the Okposo Fallout covered, including a link to the Strib’s own Brian Stensaas capturing some harsh words from Garth Snow for the Gophers and coach Don Lucia. (Strib Gopher puck beat writer Roman Augustoviz is none too pleased with Snow, either. That said, the people who’ve taken the opportunity to dump on Lucia are a good few noodles short of a lasagna; Chris provides a look at Lucia’s tenure and concludes as much.

*I have never been more proud to be an alumnus of the University of Arizona.

*First England failed to qualify for soccer’s European Championships. Then Ricky Hatton got whupped by Floyd Mayweather. And now England’s cricketers are taking the pipe. And what international superpower is providing merrye olde England a trip to the woodshed? That’s right: Sri Lanka.

That’ll do it for me. Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good Saturday. What do you mean, it doesn’t fit the meter or the rhyme scheme?
