Weekend links with Jon Marthaler

Good morning, all (we’ll assume that it’s morning, unless yesterday’s outrageously cheap Chinese food ends up waylaying RandBall.) [Proprietor note: No problems reported. The buffet has earned itself a repeat visit]. And it’s a fine morning, too; in fact, what are you doing inside reading these links? Get outdoors! Enjoy the warmth! You’ll miss it when it’s minus-17 in February and Paul Douglas is trying to convince you that global warming remains a threat. I’ll give him global warming …
On to the links.
*Nobody tell Ed Hochuli about this. He might kill us all.
*Why nobody from the NFL has stepped in to stop Matt Millen from making a fool of himself, I’ll never know. The latest Lions-related failure: Access Vikings reports that the Lions are interviewing Vikings defensive backs coach Joe Woods. You might remember, of course, that Minnesota was by some distance the worst pass defense in the NFL. In fact, they were the only team worse than — can you guess? That’s right, the Detroit Lions! You couldn’t make this stuff up. Go ahead, Detroit! Take him! Maybe next year you can move up to 30th against the pass! And remember: Millen is the second-highest paid GM in football.
*Via Awful Announcing: BEER DOWN! (Sad voice) It never even had a chance to become urine.
*Wild beat writer Michael Russo has some bad news: The NHL All-Star Game stands some chance of ending 2-1 this year.
*And finally, to round out your Saturday: Here’s a picture of Deadspin editor Will Leitch kissing a dog.
That’ll do it for me; enjoy the weekend. And if you happen to be connected with the Ohio State football program, and you think your team can beat LSU: you just keep telling yourself that, champ.
