*Joe Gibbs retires. Again. For good. He swears.
*Bert Blyleven gets more than 60 percent of the Hall of Fame vote after getting about 48 percent last year. Another leap like that and he would be on the cusp of getting in.
*The new American Gladiators was the highest rated new program on any network this season.
*Georgia’s president advocates an 8-team playoff^. ^ denotes 16-team playoff in particular years that such a thing would benefit Georgia.
*A guy orders a set of left-handed men’s golf clubs for a friend, and instead a set of right-handed women’s clubs show up. Discuss.

The company knows some things about your friend that neither you or he were aware of…
Breaking News:
Robert Bruininks advocates a 118 team playoff. He hopes for the chance to be a “bubble” team.
I’ve seen Rocket hit a softball. The right handed women’s clubs can only improve his golf game.
American Gladiators may have first place now, but American Idol hasn’t started yet. America has taste when it comes to living vicariously..
Well, if American Idol can repalce American Gladiators atop the New Program Ratings, that would be impressive indeed.
With the recent trend of a solo, relief pitching inductee I think that “Oil Can” Boyd has a shot at Cooperstown in 2008.
Somewhere in Florida a man on a fishing boat is cursing loudly in Dutch.
Toonces, I don’t know when “Idol” starts up, but I heard it is soon. Any bets on whether it topples the hunks and honeys on Gladiator ? Friendly bets, that is, where a third party holds the cash ? Actually, I could care less since programs like that are for the pathologically bored anyway, esp. Idol..
P3–I’m sure that ratings for American Falseidol will trump Gladiators by a significant margin. The sheer number of stupid little teenage girls that will watch that crap is amazing.
But, given that it is in it’s 6th or 7th “season”, it isn’t likely to beat Gladiator for top rated “new” show of the season.
Given the crap that is being aired these days, though (even before the hacks that call themselves writers went on strike), I’m not surprised that Gladiators has taken that spot. I would guess that maybe the first episode of Knight Rider will knock it off it’s perch–before everyone realizes that it too sucks. I’d rather watch Chris Berman doing NFL highlights for an hour than most of the crap that is being put on TVs these days.
