The COW: Roughkat

The late surge, complete with his take on the Herschel Walker situation, clinched it for Roughkat. We’ll leave you with this, courtesy of one of our colleagues, but please be warned: If you are offended by fake subtitles about the Giants/Dallas game being played over a movie about the fall of an evil empire, you can skip it.

They always say write what you know. It’s no surprise then, that a man identifying himself as roughkat, Rupert, Uruguay and that porn name Stu came up with, all in one week, would have just the right comment on a story about multiple personalities.

Spike McPoke?

How to win COW

1) Be a regular or at least semi-regular commenter.
2) Make a funny comment under another name.
3) Scour youtube for funny videos.
4) Don’t be afraid to make fun of professional athletes even if they are mentally ill. That should be your bread and butter. That and any Packers/#4/P3 jokes.

That video reminded me of three things:

1) How great Bruno Ganz is.
2) How great IMovie is sometimes.
3) Multiple personalities or not, Herschel Walker is not as crazy as the late demented anti-Semitic Jew Bobby Fischer was.

{an aside, sorry }….On TV, I just now watched the wanna be Pres Mike Huckabee whip up his Johnny Reb crowds in South Carolina by playing the tried and true homophobe card. I mean hasn’t this country had enough of out of control religious freaks in the Oval Office ?

Anyway, he told his adoring Confederates that a “marriage” is only between a “male and female”…which always makes me p.o.ed when lead heads like this smiling fool use words like “straights” (which he did later) since straight, the word and concept, implies that gays are crooked..end of aside, but I had to chime in and give a verbal beatdown to this loser ..}

Am I the only one who, when trying to watch the above video gets the message: “This is a private video. If you have been sent this video, please make sure you accept the sender’s friend request.” in a salmon-colored box. Dang.

This blurb from Tom Powers in the 1/19 Pioneer Press sports page ….

ā€œ….It must rankle Vikings fans. They won the coaching sweepstakes battle(stealing the keen minded qb evaluative skills of Childress from the Packers, a P3 aside) but lost the war. There’s always been a Viking-Packer undercurrent in the Twin Cities. When the Vikings were cruising with those swashbuckling, high-scoring teams, the number of purple jackets and banners dwarfed those that were green and gold.

But rest assured that with the Packers one step from the Super Bowl, the always-sizeable gaggle of marginal fans will switch allegiances. Everybody loves a winner. ā€œ

lather, rinse, discuss

P3, Bandwagon fans are lame enough. Bandwagon fans who switch between two rival teams, well, they don’t even like sports. Idiots.

So, then what are true believing fans who call other fans “idiots” called ?? Analogy: What if people like good food but the restaurant they like to go to simply doesn’t serve it. Should they keep going back, or look for a better place ? Face it. The Vikings have exuded a most foul odour for some time now, so if someone wants to back a good team, for a change, as I see it, so be it.

Just because you have no play in your game, doesn’t mean these “converts” should sit around every Sunday watching Peterson get stuffed or Action Jackson overthrow his motley crew of receivers. Back your losing team, if you want, but don’t “jack up” those who want to watch much better ball. By the way, how did the Vikings end up ?

Dave, that’s it…Like South Carolina as we speak and those clowns in the past who nearly elected Bush, I bless you (operative verb there) with the Newest Purple Jesus name “True Believer”…that is, you are a true fan blind to any and all truths, a man I want on my side if I go into battle, but not one I want on my side starting bar fights over this, a bad football team, first and foremost, so this is not any rite of passage to back this team, not anything of note at all..

P3, wouldn’t you be a little sickened if there were a bunch of Packer fans who started cheering for the Vikings because, in a particular season, the Vikings played better than the Packers? Don’t act like those days won’t come again, #4 isn’t going to play forever.

You’d be pissed that these so-called “Packer Fans” were cheering for Phat and crew, and you know it.

Also, a “true believer” would think that the Vikings were actually good this season (I don’t), I think they were mediocre and were able to ride the efforts of an outstanding rookie for a few games until teams figured out that there weren’t any more offensive weapons.

Also, I’m one of the blasphemous in the Twin Cities who wouldn’t care if the Vikes moved away…in hopes that more people would start supporting Gopher football (even though, it can be argued, NFL fans aren’t college football fans).

So really, I’m about the furthest thing from a “true believer” Vikings fan. I think you’ll have to look elsewhere to hand out that title.

I kind of want the Packers to win this weekend, because I want them to lose to the Pats in the Super Bowl. Unfortunately, no matter who won that Super Bowl matchup, an annoying fanbase would get what it wanted.

At least, Boston is further away.

Dave MN says:

Also, P3, what’s your logic in thinking that we should be cheering for the Packers? They’re closer than the other teams? Isn’t that just as stupid as cheering for the Vikings because we live here?

I’m going to be cheering for history if I’m cheering for anything from the last four teams. I’d like to see 19-0, because I don’t think we’ll see it again for a long time.

Paul Peter Paulos says:

I’ve always liked many teams…bears, Lions, Giants, Pats, Broncos ( esp. after they ended your decripid season) but never the Vikes…don’t know why. Maybe it’s because I always hated that redneck gun toting ultra conservative Grant, and yet he was a hero here.

But, I liked Moss when others didn’t, but to answer your question I don’t care who others back as their team or who they jump ship for. Mainly since sports are 1/2 theater and 1/2 nonsense anyway so when I see the truly corpulent couples away from their Lazyboys at Viking games all painted up, I just think about the population problem on Earth anyway. But again, what others do is their issue. Personally, I don’t undestand how the Vikings have any fan base at all, but who know what goes on in the minds of True Believers and there are plenty of those from Minnetonka to St. Paul.

Maybe, it’s because people around here really believe that mini-Apple thing even though NY friends of mine hoot at that. Or, maybe we really think we, and thus the Vikings by inference, are quite an important lot up here in the Midwest. I don’t. I just see this area as interesting, good fishing but still flyover land and so this team I must leave to the “True Believers”, yet it is amazing I see so few of those lame purple flags these days. Thank Gawd !
