The Internets: O.J. in trouble again
Posted on January 24th, 2008 – 10:53 AMBy Michael Rand
Maybe it’s just the name. This time, it’s O.J. Mayo that’s in trouble. The star freshman for USC (pictured in his youth, for real, possibly making a move on a younger, pre-Cherry Chocolate Rain remixin’ Tay Zonday) is in trouble for getting free tickets to a Nuggets game from Carmelo Anthony. That’s possibly an NCAA no-no, though 77 percent of SportsNation! thinks otherwise. We voted in the minority, though we think the most damaging part comes at the end, in reference to ‘Melo:
Mayo, averaging a team-leading 19.7 points and 4.6 rebounds, said Anthony made the offer of tickets at a party he hosted Sunday night.
“I was talking to him like, `Man, you’re out pretty late. You’ve got a game tomorrow night against Kobe [Bryant],”‘ Mayo said. “He said, `Nah, it will be all right.‘ And then he asked, `You want to come to the game?’ And I was like, ‘Sure.’ ”
Very professional, ‘Melo.
*AzGopherGirl saw the Fight Club post and alerted us to a real-life fight club in Arizona. Heh.
*Prank callers break into a women’s basketball teleconference.
*The legend of Eli. It’s worth it just to look at those images of Joe Namath and Eli Manning again.

Like any of us looked better drinking our first beer.
Re: Arizona Fight Club
From the link: Its toss and be tossed for these Fight Clubbers at Sadisco Fight Club at Jughead’s Saturday night.
Well, if you put it that way…
Before you boo me offstage, the first rule of Arizona Fight Club is don’t talk about Daylight Savings Time. The second rule is don’t talk about Daylight Savings Time.
We should probably start getting used to the shenanigans of OJ Mayo, since there’s no way that the Wolves don’t end up drafting him this year.
Legend of Eli…right !!
Forensic sports detectives have unearthed their truths…finally, sadly, and deeply in the heated mesh grass at Lambeau Field. It appears that BOTH teams, not just the Packers, tried what appeared to be the nonsensical tactic of freezing the balls not only before practice but as it turns out, immediately BEFORE the game. Why does the knowledgeable fan want to know this ? ..
Well, here it is is, sports fans and this makes “Spy Gate” no more than some fun and jinks vouyeuristic activity. Turns out the Mustard Seed that Sports Afficianado “Dave” had correctly guessed might aid the qb in more tightly to the ball, this seed was found in unusually LARGE quantities wherever the Packers had the ball. i.e had fallen off only the Packer balls ! This sorry state of investigation then simply seems to imply that the Giants and/or staff had found to release the bond of those seeds to Green Bay’s balls. Details coming..

Wait, what was he all like again?
What?!?!?
Question from the prank caller: “Is it true if you don’t use it you lose it?”
Question from the prank caller: How did you teach the players not to run to check the oven when the shot clock goes off?
I’ll show myself out…
When is Mayo going to shave off that ridiculous Hitler mustache that he is sporting?
You’d think in LA especially that there might be a person or two of Jewish decent that would get offended.
The first rule about Fight Club is you do not talk about Fight Club. The second rule about Fight Club is you sure as hell don’t let some blog in Minneapolis bost something about Fight Club. WHACK!
Whenever I think of a fight or fight club, I automatically distinguish between an adult fight, between adults, and a kid fight..high school or so. I was in many of those 11th and 12th grade fights and beside being asked to vacate the building for few days and bring my mother with me when I came back, I don’t think I ever landed a truly crushing punch at all, unless it was into a wall or locker.
One such fight was typical and involved this real jerk, a top notch swimmer, and looking back on it, I think I was just jealous since though I was a track star, swim meets had cheerleaders and we did not. Never. Rats..
Well, the excitement of the rumor of the upcoming fight went all the way to 7th hour, last hour…and there we were..like gladiators (except he was a little punk) across the gym floor from one another. As I crossed towards him I’m unsure what happened first (since such things are lost in the fog of war) but I do remember what happened a moment later. He jumped up and in one incredibly graceful figure skating motion (Grr) grabbed my T-shirt as it hung behind me !! and pulled it over my head so all I could do was land huge haymakers into the air.
Coach Johnson was brought in by this commotion and we knew he did not hand out lame candy b.tt suspensions but immediate and harsh judgement instead. And in this case my swimmer friend got the full weight of a Medicine Ball in the head to back off his puny attack, and I got worse. I got the infamous (true) Johnson bodylock which not only stole all the air from my lungs, but when he let up, I was forced to breathe this man (this part is true so hide the children), breathe this 70 year old man so foul we could easily track this man whenever he passed behind us in Study Hall. He also had dandruff so bad he wore snowshoes at times, but I won’t go there. But, the Coach did leave us with good lessons, that is, fight in English class where that teacher there would just cry about where she went wrong..
