Oakland Raiders to hire Denny Green?
Posted on January 25th, 2008 – 3:51 PMBy Michael Rand
ESPN’s Chris Mortensen is reporting that Raiders owner Al Davis is trying to get head coach Lane Kiffin to resign in order for the team to pursue Denny Green as a replacement. Apparently a letter of resignation has been drafted by Davis, but Kiffin has refused to sign it. This, as they say when trying to technically describe such a thing in our business, is an awesome story. You might recall that both coaches in question have Minnesota ties; Kiffin went to Bloomington Jefferson and played football there, and for a while was considered a strong candidate for the Gophers job that went to Tim Brewster. Denny Green? Well, he needs no introduction. Someone should write a book that is largely about the Denny Green years here. Oh, wait. Someone already did. And that same someone also took home this week’s COW, based on your voting.

Who is this Dennis Green you are talking about? Any relation to the virginal AC Green?
Al Davis continues to find new ways to F up his organization. Can any fan base wish dealth on their owner more than the Raiders?
No Carl Pohlad is not even in Al Davis’ time zone.
Boy that book pops up alot. Is it any good ? Are there any kickbacks to the proprietor every time it appears center blow ?
But I could say this about Green. But, for once I am speechless that someone else will try to saddle a mule and pretend he is a thoroughbred…
Al Davis is how old ? Dead. So we should just let him lie there
Huh. And the Raiders seemed like such a model franchise.
How does Dennis Green continue to be so arrogant?

THUMP THUMP THUMP. Weekend Links! Puck Talk! WOOOOOOOOOOOO! Come ON! THUMP THUMP THUMP. Marthaler! YEAH! (/krazy)
The five second violation last night at the end of the Wolves game was the defining moment of the season.
I hope there is a paragraph about how SCSU gave up 5 3rd period goals in the final 8 minutes of the game to lose to a horrible MSU team!
Other than that I’m okay about not hearing about hoc-key?
Dave
I concur. But I am glad the Wolves held on to the worst record because I don’t think they will have it for long.
Minnesota has a pro basketball team? Could have fooled me. The way the divisions are aligned, T-Pups in the Northwest division, you would think that we were located between Idaho and Montana. I have refused to watched anything NBA because of this. Why we are not in the Eastern conference is beyond me. I hope that McHale and Taylor drive this team into the ground so that everyone is happy that they will relocate. Maybe they will move to Casper or Cheyenne so that the NBA won’t have to realign the divisions.
As for Denny Green coaching the Raiders, I think that he is a good coach and he would do that team some good.
Red Green might make a good coach, but Denny ? He likely had the best qb/receiver combos in history and what did he do with them ? He’s had his chances. Let him have his commercials..
I would much rather have Denny than Chilly. At least with Green we always felt like we had a shot at somethng, plus it was exciting to watch. With Childress a root canal is more stimulating.
I am not sure if Chilly is trying to be stoic or if he is just a cold person. To me he looks like a mean Ned Flanders.
