tone.jpgA few days ago, we secured *exclusive* rights to have AZGopherGirl report on Super Bowl goings on in Arizona. While she hasn’t yet begun her work in earnest, this partnership is already paying off. Why, you ask? Because she sends along this great news from the Arizona Republic:

Digital Underground, Tone Loc and Young MC, rappers who struck it big in the late 1980s and early ’90s, will get the party started at Dan Majerle’s Three-Day Downtown EndZone Block Party  at 8 p.m. Feb. 1 in front of the former Phoenix Suns player’s bar and grill in downtown Phoenix. The party, along First Street between Washington and Jefferson streets, runs from 4 p.m. to 2 a.m. each day Jan. 31 through Feb. 2. The event, sponsored by Coors Light, features giant plasma TV screens and live broadcasts of local radio shows with DJs Alex Santamaria and Nina Cruz. Next Friday, former Dallas Cowboy Emmitt Smith will be on hand to help attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the “Largest Dish Ever Washed.

AZGopherGirl, you have your first assignment. Do us proud.

Is Dan Majerle still alive? (Stu possible Hunt Down?) Majerle has to look like a raisin by now. Was there ever a professional athlete that got more sun/faked baked as much as Majerle?

When I was at Macalester in the early 00’s, someone had the brilliant idea to hire Digital Underground to perform at an outdoor concert.
They were roundly booed off the stage after playing terrible music and then trying way too hard to get girls to remove their tops. They only received partial payment and were probably lucky that they didn’t also receive a lawsuit.

Did anyone else happen to see the ad right under that story when you click on the link? It’s some rich guy that put an ad in Craig’s List for dates to the Superbowl…

The WWL shows why it rocks so much by having DJ Jazzy Jeff as it’s ESPN Radio party entertainment.

All you haters can gargle on an unfortunate and smelly part of my anatomy. I have not, nor will I ever again, regret leaving Arizona as much as I do in this moment right now…

What if they threw a football game, and no bands came ?

I just got back from work (you guys should try it some time) and wrote up a post that’s largely and occasional factual about UFO sighting from Roswell to Air Force pilots. Strange you can believe the Purple will one day win a Bowl, but not believe people see/sense/hear of these things. Anyway, it’s in the post before this “Fri. stuff”, stuff more interesting than what bands will “kick the party off”. Who needs bands anyway, when you have football ? Gag me, forget the hype…

I’ll start it…

All right, stop what you’re doing
Cuz’ RandBall’s ‘bout to ruin
The image and style you’re used to
He looks funny
But yo, he’s making t-shirts see
So world, he hopes you’re ready for PPP
Now gather ‘round
Cuz’ he’s the only blogger in town
With a basketball and a big frown
He’ll eat up all the bacon you have on the shelf
So just let him introduce himself…

Let’s see one of you joke-making, monkey boys finish it off…

P.S.

The RandBall dance
is your chance
to feel her lumps

KARE 11 is reporting that Morneau and Cuddyer both have signed long term deals with the Twins. I suppose this is good but when the [redacted] is the Santana saga going to end?

Dave MN says:

Jama, that is some good news to hear right before hitting two days of TwinsFest this weekend!

RandBall - did you once get busy in a Burger King bathroom?

Dave MN says:

January 25th, 2008 at 12:31 pm

AZGopherGirl:

RandBall doesn’t have time to answer ’cause he’s sick with this, a straight gangsta mack, but sometimes he gets ridiculous, he’ll drink up all your Schell’s and eat your Lutefisk. Hey, yo Phat Williams, come here are you ticklish?

I give AZ +2 for giving me the mental image of Rand getting busy in a Burger King bathroom. Oh wait that is a -2.

[…] I Would Totally Crash This Party: Apparently Dan Majerle’s bar in Phoenix is throwing a Super Bowl block party with Digital Underground, Tone Loc, and Young MC — seriously, these were the fellas on MTV when I got addicted to it.  True story: Shock G from the Underground was touring with Murs when I saw him live — eventually Murs got him to bust out a verse of the Humpty Dance, and of course, he had the nose and glasses on hand.
