The Internets: Jennie Finch is fired
Posted on January 25th, 2008 – 1:59 PMBy Michael Rand
It’s been called to our attention that Jennie Finch was dismissed last night from “The Celebrity Apprentice” or whatever nonsense they’re calling it. You might remember Finch as a gold medal winning softball player. Or you might remember her for other reasons. The news came from swarmswarmswarm, with the subject line, “You probably already know this, but …” Um, huh? We probably already know jack squat about reality TV. But apparently S3 knows plenty about it, watching copious hours in Appleton when she’s not “making loads of meat sauce and oatmeal cookies.” It’s a full, rich life. Don’t ever change. (But seriously, thanks).
*The big Finch news downgraded the news of Morneau and Cuddyer to second place. We were actually over at the Twins’ media luncheon when news of this broke. Manager Ron Gardenhire bolted to go bowling. No, seriously, he did. That’s why he’s the best ever.
*Milwaukee raises $85K for a statue of the Fonz. And they say activism is dead (thanks AZGG).
*Why do we imagine these will be popular in Wisconsin?
Feel free to chime in on the Twins’ signings here … or join the mayhem on E3’s blog.

Is Finchy’s boyfriend/husband still on the Twins radar? I can’t wait to be about 6 beers deep on a Wednesday dollar dog night when I run across Finchy waiting in line to use the bathroom. I of course will do the gentlemenly thing and escort her to the men’s bathroom where she can use the trough.
Has anyone else noticed that Jennie Finch is fairly attractive?
Yes.
I may have noticed that. I can’t remember.
I would guess that the Packers belt would have Favre’s head on it.
I’ll be first to admit that Finch is more of a man than I am. And why is it we can sign Morneau to a 6 year deal, but couldn’t come near that for Tori??? WTF!!!
Everyone has to have goals…too bad Milwaukee is included in everyone. My home town of Jordan was having a fund raiser to have a pool put in. The slogan was “A Dream Come True in 92″…we still don’t have a pool.
And another thing…if Cuddyer was only asking for 6.2 mil next season…why the [redacted] would we sign him for 7.6 mil/year????
Re: Morneau vs. Torii, I would guess age had something to do with it. You can’t give an aging CF playing on turf more than 4 years (ideally 3). Morneau is coming into (hopefully) the prime of his career. Sad as this sounds, he’s going to seem like a bargain in three years.
Re: cuddyer, the 7.6 vs. 6.2 takes into account what he would have ultimately gotten in future contracts. It’s a fair shake for both sides, though it’s interesting to note that if he hits his option, he’ll be at about 4 and 35, which is close to Mauer money.
Joker - Re: Why Morneau and not Torii
I think we watched Torii strike out in key situations for more years than Morneau (even though they have a similar proclivity for it). Besides, has Torii even come close to MVP? I also think that it’s easier to find good/acceptable outfielders than it is to find corner infielders.
Besides, wouldn’t you be pissed if we gave Torii the money the Angels did? He scored a contract WAY over his head. Good for him.
Jodan’s got a pool and a pond. The pond might be better for you.
@ Joker-
Torii was in his mid 30s and his knees were in their early 60s. Aging CF with degrading knees playing on turf wasn’t worth that long of a deal or that much money.
seeing the article about the fonz statue brought memories of his role on Arrested Development - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wEp8xaqxYgE
And let me be the first to say that Milwaukee needs more things to do there. I go once a year to the sister-in-laws for super bowl weekend, and there’s a reason why we are only there for the weekend.
Ok…one more person please tell me about his aging knees/playing on turf/that much money…anyone…stu…?
Who are you kidding with those Sport’s Garters being popular in Wisconsin ?
Maybe, but If you took a look at the lady’s legs in Menard’s. McDonalds or Viking game you can bet it would be dangerous for much of our brood stock to wear those tight garters without fear of gangrene…
Joker - Clearly the decision not to sign Hunter was because he’s aging and his knees will be bad.
Oh yeah, and he was playing on turf. And the Angels over paid him.
I also heard something about Hunter getting knee replacement surgery this off season. Oh and by the way the Twins are going to be playing on turf the next 2 seasons.
Is that good Joker?
But seriously Morneau actually hits for power and a higher average. Plus his contract is for $5 million per year less than Hunter’s.
Jama (& Joker) - To answer your question, Casey Daigle (aka Mr. Jennie Finch) appears to be signed already, and is a non-roster invitee to training camp.
Sorry Joker- didn’t mean to pile on. Opened page, read story, didn’t refresh comments before adding my own.
jama, she’s far more attractive than that cylindical volleyball player
Jennie Finch has a better chance of making the Twins bullpen this spring than Casey Daigle does…
Well, she should anyway.
Let me get this straight. First, cavemen and women crawled out from the rocks and ate whatever wasn’t eating them. This was a harsh world. Harsher than rooting for the Vikings. Much harsher. This was reality. The real McCoy.
But, now people sit (not stand or root around for berries or dead game) and watch other people involved in swimming great distances underwater to bring up meaningless inedible markers or watch usually bankrupt arrogant windbags gas up their terrified contestants.
Now, this what confuses me. That is, why are these staged mock ups of reality called “reality shows” when every moment is orchestrated ? Maybe, if, by secret audience vote, a rabid tiger could be released on the Survivor tents or in the weenie Trump’s office (right between his knees) not only would that then be a true “reality show” but might take a bite out of Trump’s shrunken jewel case.
