The Internets: Johan meets the NY press

scott_baker.jpgJohan Santana’s first press conference as a member of the Mets is at 12:15 this afternoon, and apparently you can watch it live thanks to the wonder of the Interweb. But hey, we’re not looking back. We’re looking forward. That’s why we chose to use a picture of this year’s opening day starter instead of last year’s.

*The trade of Shaq to the Suns is “one yes away,” whatever that means. A romantic encounter between Dave MN and Heather Mitts is also “one yes away,” so you see what we’re working with here.

*Nolan Ryan becomes President of the Texas Rangers, declares first promotion to be “Punch Robin Ventura Night.” By the way, Ryan is 61. That doesn’t seem right.

*Free time. We’re sure the Beastie Boys are thrilled.

I’d never seen the full video of Ryan vs. Ventura - nice work, RandBall.

Crazy: charging the mound and taking on Nolan Ryan. Even crazier: taking on Bo Jackson in the ensuing scuffle. It’s a wonder no Rangers were killed.

Also… given that fights do tend to bring a team together, and given that starting fights is a traditional way of firing up a team in hockey - it’s a wonder there aren’t more brawls in baseball. Five-game losing streak? Take out your frustrations on an opposing pitcher with poor accuracy!

Doesn’t Shawn Marion and Marcus Banks for Don Shula seem a little lopsided?

I can’t believe it has been 15 years since the Ventura v Ryan.

In regards to Johan meeting the press, I hope he don’t become the next media darling ala Derek Jeter.

This trade may ensure the Wolves getting the most ping pong balls.

But on a more important note, our favorite NBA rookie, Spencer Hawes, has decided “Now is the perfect time to officially announce my endorsement of Mitt Romney for the GOP candidate”.

The response from the McCain campaign was a collective sigh of relief.

I didn’t realize that Dave MN would have the (redacted) to reject Heather Mitts!

I’m as surprised as anyone, but I’m taken and loyal.

I think the Griz have officially taken the lead on the “Who’s going to have the most ping pong balls” sweepstakes.

Plus for some reason Randy Wittman has decided he actually wants to coach and the Wolves players have decided that they actually want to try.

I thought Heather Mitts only had one leg. I think I need roughkat’s lady friend to confirm who was “Dancing with the Stars”.

Otherwise I bet it would be hard to play soccer with a peg leg.

Jama…

That would be Heather Mills…

Paul McCarthy’s ex lady friend, who took him to the cleaners..

The lesson here boys and girls…Prenup.

I think Michael Strahan is thinking the same thing.

Jama, Heather surely got the pity vote on Dancin’ with the Studs. She did OK, I guess, but if taking crips seriously on tv now as in “Gladiators” becomes popular, they’ll have to add “Bobbin’ for Bodies” as an event.
