Chris Simon

Our guy Mike Russo is reporting the Wild will acquire Chris Simon for a sixth-round pick. Yes, this Chris Simon:

We wanted to post a Slap Shot video, but there was too much [redacted] swearing. Still, there’s quite a discussion going on over at Russo’s Rants, if you haven’t noticed. Whee!

To say that a player is an embarrassment to the National Hockey League is saying something. Yet, that’s what Chris Simon is.

Sad.

Doug R has lost his mind…

This really is pointless. I’d be happier if we’d gotten someone like Bertuzzi over this guy. Bertuzzi’s a jerk and a total piece of garbage, but I don’t think he’s a psychopath. Chris Simon is unstable. This is going to be a move the Wild regret. They actually had a pretty good image up until now. Their enforcer (Boogaard) was well-liked and not a cheap shot artist. Now they’ve got a freakin’ nightmare on skates. I don’t think this will end well.

I did not think that Doug Risebrough could become the worst GM in town in one day, but he has managed it.

Risebrough can only be redeemed if Simon is scratched constantly AND if Lang ends up in Minny.

Can the Wolves sign someone who will stab another player on the court? The gauntlet has been thrown down Mr. McHale…

What happened to Old Time Hockey with guys like Tobe Blake and Eddie Shore???

Next thing you know the Vikings will a sign a O-lineman who gets arrested for assault…wait…never mind.

Or, the Twins will sign a guy who threw a bat at an umpire…wait…never mind.

Why can’t these other teams be more like the T-Wolves who are lauded as role models for foster parents everywhere because they don’t beat anybody….

Thanks, I’m here all week!

So we traded a sixth-round pick for a 6-year suspension, eh?

Twice in one year, the Islanders have Snowed Minnesota hockey fans.

Pun intended.

It probably reinforces The Marth’s point that I even know who Chris Simon is.

This is problematic, yes.

There’s nothing like the horrible sudden sinking feeling in the pit of your stomach when Bob MacKenzie finishes the sentence “The New York Islanders trade Chris Simon to the…” with the name of your favorite team.

Jon, it goes something like this during the announcement: “Suckers! What team is getting stuck with h.. JESUS CHRIST!!”

The Wild outbid UND.

On the other hand, the Vikes did just fleece Jacksonville.

Maybe we can have an inter-sport swap: Chris Simon to the Vikes for Mount McKinnie. Then we can put Bryant in goal as an unstoppable force (and since he’s apparently so good at fighting), and Simon can play left tackle so he can get used to getting his ass handed to him instead of the other way around.

+1 to Matt, and +1 to Jon, because I would have no idea what that meant without reading TNABACG.

On the other hand, the Vikes did just fleece Jacksonville.

Yes, yes, a thousand times yes.

I think it’s funny that the Vikes were originally asking for a first day pick for Williamson. That wouldn’t even fly in Madden.

Hoc-key? It had to be said.

Wasn’t this guy the that Happy Gilmore was based on?

Best news of the week and possibly best news of the year.

You know your time is done when super-nerd John Clayton can school you and get a couple zings in every time they do the split-screen with him and SS.
