Weekend links with Jon Marthaler

Roseau had the better chances in the third period, but ultimately …
Oh, sorry. Wrong blog.
Anybody who checked in with the Preps Insider blog in the past couple of days has had enough of my bloviation, so let’s just get on with some weekend
links …
*Hey, I didn’t know Jamie Moyer ran marathons!
*Wild GM Doug Risebrough, in his own words. (Summation: It wasn’t my fault, the sun was in my eyes.)
*The Gophers got Tubby Smith as a men’s basketball coach, and he’s brought Minnesota some respect and a decent Big Ten finish. USC got Tim Floyd, and he’s recruiting rappers who can’t play basketball in order to sell tickets. Once again, thumbs up to Joel Maturi for this one.
*Joe Posnanski previews the AL Central — in poetry. Hilarity, of course, ensues.
*Ah, Italian soccer. Always a reminder that, no matter how many steroid scandals or Spygate dustups we have here, things could always be worse.
*And finally: when it is news that you sprinted from one end of a basketball court to the other, just how old and slow are you? That Shaq experiment seems to be going, uh, well in Phoenix.
That’s it for me; it’s time to blink once or twice and then head back to the Xcel Center. You just can’t beat hockey in St. Paul, I’ll say that much.

Is that you being circled in that picture above Jon?
Looks more like SuperRookie to me…
(I say that only because his Blackhawks keep beating my Wild…)
Is there something like Divine Intervention going on when Benilde, St. Thomas and Cretin always make the playoffs in their many tournaments…or does a little greasing of the palm (tuition remission) to the parents get the top notch recruits ? (not that I’m suggesting that, Heaven forbid, since it all may be circumstantial that small schools have such hot teams !!)
