The house that Ruth built, hockey closed?

Hockey in the Bronx? And not just that, but serving as the final game ever in Yankee Stadium? Sounds crazy. But it also sounds as though it might be a reality. According to ESPN.com:
An executive with knowledge of the Yankees thinking tells 1050 ESPN New York’s Andrew Marchand that the team will not stand in the way of a proposed plan for the final event at Yankee Stadium to be an NHL game. No agreement is actually in place yet for the possible Yankee Stadium finale, but if a deal does happen, the game would likely be played on New Year’s Day in 2009 and involve the New York Rangers. The opponent for the game has yet to be decided. In the past, the Yankees have opposed hosting a hockey game because the ice could affect Yankee Stadium field conditions. The team will move into its new stadium to start the 2009 season so the field conditions are no longer an issue. The New York Daily News reported Monday that the Yankees and the NHL were working toward a deal on hosting a game in the Bronx.
With noted tough guys such as Alex Rodriguez having patrolled the field in recent years, this only makes sense.

I don’t care what the stats say, Derek Jeter is one of the best defensemen in the game today. I know he’s -89 over the past two years, but I believe what I see with my own eyes.
He’s a leader on the power play, where he plays on BOTH units of a team that’s scored on 4.7% of its opportunities this year. And he kills penalties, too - that unit’s operating at an almost 61% clip over the last two years.
He just brings leadership to the ice. And that’s what’s important - not your stupid numbers.

How many incriminating photos does Jon have of you? What other reason could there be for all this hockey talk?
If I could get tickets for that, I would be there in a heart beat.
My grandpa always said, “The day they play hockey at Yankee Stadium is the day they should tear it down.”
My grandpa always said, “Someday, the Swedes are gonna get theirs, good and hard.”
I realize this isn’t relevant to the subject at hand, but the Swedes should know this.
Isn’t it illegal to mention Rodriguez in that context and not link the pic? I’ll cover for ya. http://graphics.boston.com/images/sports/redsox/2004/1020_arod_800600.jpg
