Of course they say that. But what do we see when he plays? That’s what counts, not what the managers try to say in order to save face.

I’d take “no-hustle-slacker-Manny-being” Manny over Kirby Puckett any day. I don’t know why people continue to perpetuate this kind of slander. Almost every in the Red Sox system, top to bottom, acknowledges that Manny is one of the hardest working people in the game. He has a different personality, and he doesn’t like the press, but that doesn’t make him lazy.
