Tuesday (baseball in Japan) edition: Wha’ Happened?

dice-k.jpgAs we type this, the A’s lead the Red Sox 4-3 in a regulation baseball game being played in the Tokyo Dome on March 25. If that isn’t a shock to the system, we don’t know what is. We imagine that sometime in the future, baseball and football will be played 11.5 months of the year on six continents (maybe seven), with just a break for free agency, a draft and other odds and ends. We’re all for the globalization, but the day baseball starts in the winter is the day we’re officially freaked out.

Wild? Lost.

Calgary? Lost.

Vancouver? Did not play.

Colorado? Defeated Calgary.

Race? One up on Calgary, three up on Vancouver and Colorado, but: the Wild has played one more game than Calgary and two more than Vancouver. Gettin’ ugly down the stretch.

A question for the morning: Best breakfast place in the Twin Cities? We’re hitting our favorite right now. Our Kitchen.

Fasola-link! Geckos.

It’s hard to top The Copper Dome. Nowhere else can you get racist/sexist ads from earlier in the century along with Tang.

I like Egg & I. My grandfather once thought he could eat two Kamikaze pancakes even though my mom insisted that one was enough. But he refused to back down. I think he finished half of one. I don’t know if I could do any better.

Do Red Sox fans even care about this game? This explains though why the fantasy drafts were this past weekend. I love fantasy baseball, especially the part where I complete forget about it in June when it’s 90 outside.

Bryant Lake Bowl for breakfast is the greatest. Their jalapeno, cream cheese, and red pepper scramble with jalapeno BLB fries is one of the best things ever.

Their breakfast burrito is awesome as well. Chipotle-sized…

Our Kitchen… very retro… and on the way to work now that the (redacted) ramps are closed. But as far as in the hood I still prefer Victor’s.

Check out that new place a few blocks down Nicollet (or as my out of town friends call it “Nee-co-LAY” - which is probably correct) and let me know how it is. Where Westrum’s used to be.

I hear talk of the Twins opening their season next year in Iowa at the Field Of Dreams. Against the Royals of course.

As a graduate of the University of Minnesota, I am required by the terms of my diploma to name Al’s Breakfast the best morning place in town. That said: Hell’s Kitchen has the advantage of actually having somewhere to sit.

As an out-of-towner, my no-doubt-wrong answer is the Uptown Diner.

What, no love for Perkins or Denny’s?

I’ve often thought that some team should become a “homeless” team, and play all 8 home football games (or 81 baseball, etc) in different stadiums across the country. Or maybe a rotation of 4, or something. Try to become a real “America’s Team,” rather than those self named, push off pros from our south…
