Claim to Fame, Minnesota: both outstanding goons in their own right, Churla and McRae paired to form a fearsome tag team of enforcers in the late ‘80s and early ‘90s, beating many a man senseless. Lest there be any confusion, I should note that I am not talking about All-Star Wrestling, but rather the Minnesota North Stars hoc-key concern. McRae even led the NHL with 351 penalty minutes in 1989. Churla only had 292 that year, leading to Jon Marthaler’s opinion of him as “soft.”

Claim to Fame, Everywhere Else: Churla’s cousin is Mark Rypien, and McRae had a cameo in The Mighty Ducks.

Where They Are Now: Churla’s a Regional Scout for the Dallas Stars. More importantly, in a Hunt Down first, I found his home address and telephone number. So, if you want to know what Shane’s up to right this minute, fire up the Google and give him a holler*. As for McRae, if you have questions about your investments or any other financial services, visit www.basilmcrae.com. He’ll be happy to help.

Glorious Randomness: Here’s a YouTube of Churla fighting Stu Grimson. Here’s a YouTube of McRae fighting Stu Grimson. Finally, here’s a YouTube of Stu Grimson fighting everyone else in the sport set to the delightful music of Pantera.
