Ask a Tropical Music and Sports Festival press release

Welcome to the second installment of our “Ask a …” series, which combines elements of both The Onion and those wacky Coors Light commercials. This time around, we take a press release from the North Beach Tropical Music and Sports Festival in Miami, which starts this Sunday, and use it to our advantage. This is not a real interview.
Q: I’ve never really considered dominoes to be a sport. Would you say dominoes are a sport?
A: Patrons can participate in a bevy of activities. People can expect to have fun while soaking up the sun, indulging in tropical dancing and delicious Latin cuisine. Sports fans can enjoy a plethora of activities from 12 noon to 3 pm, ranging from competitive beach volleyball tournaments to dominoes.
Q: What if someone can’t get there until 3 p.m., but that person really likes to gyrate his or her hips?
A: At 3 pm, those who like to gyrate their hips to hot tropical rhythms will enjoy weekly performances by Salsa, Merengue, Reggeaton and Brazilian. A weekly dance contest will be implemented with prizes including round trip tickets on American Airlines.
Q: Do you have any reaction to the controversy surrounding the Olympic flame?
A: Sports activities will take place in the sand bowl directly behind the band shell, with beach chairs available for rentals on a first come, first serve basis. The beach volleyball tournament will feature some of South Florida’s best players in a five-week program. The tournament will be organized and implemented by the FIU Sports Dept. Participating athletes will compete for prizes and the title of ‘King and Queen of the Beach’. In addition, adjacent to the sand bowl, a mini-domino tournament will add to the fun and diversion.
Q: In general, I have a hard time thinking of a really eclectic mix of sponsors. Can you help me out?
A: The AT&T North Beach Music and Sports Festival is presented by AT&T and is co-sponsored by Dominican Republic Tourism, U.S Army, American Airlines, Don Q Rum, Spalding, North Beach Band Shell Trust, The City of Miami Beach, Monster energy Drink, FIU, ZOL 95.FM and Mega TV.
