A descent into the commercials of our early teens

lipps.jpgWe’d like to extend a hearty “thank you” and “curse you” to the lads at Kissing Suzy Kolber for posting the YouTube video that we are about to re-post for you (and yes, we’re told this works now. Hang onto your hats). It’s a blizzard of so many of the commercials we used to watch in our younger days, and the first one is certainly worth the free admission alone: Boomer Esiason, Warren Moon, Louis Lipps, Eric Dickerson and co. selling Diet Coke. “Shakes Louis’ Lipps. … Shakes Eric’s Hips.” That little line was unearthed from a deep, dark corner of our memory. Now it seems like just yesterday, even though in that memory they were selling Pringles, not swigging the oh-so-hydrating Diet Coke from two-liter bottles. In any event, the clip keeps giving. Bold Hold. Michael Jordan Come Fly With Me. One of the countless Budweiser commercials that might have spawned this gem from Chris Farley and Adam Sandler. Everybody’s Skippy Dippin’. We won’t say another word. Here it is:

And I can only assume that the Bud commercial was the inspiration for Schmidt’s Gay…
