Rugby in prom dresses? Sure!

Courtesy of Fasolamatt (the king of all things Ohio) and from the C-Notes blog, dig this:

The Akron Women’s Rugby team is stepping it up a notch by hitting the pitch in prom dresses. That’s right – prom dresses. On April 26, the Akron team will host its second annual Prom on the Pitch.

Team president Cristina Lalli came up with the idea last year, inspired by other rugby teams that host homecomings at the end of their season.

The event is a fundraiser for a battered women’s shelter; the images from last year are fairly spectacular, though they are (rightfully) protected from grabbing and re-posting. Instead, we found a different rugby prom event on YouTube. Who knew?

I’ll have to ask my special lady friend if she and her team out west ever had a prom dress game. To my knowledge, it never happened.

sad that the best one-liner the anchor could think of afterwards is “that’s wonderful”

probably why she was in small town TV instead of New York or something
