Scott Erickson Hunt Down redux

erickson.JPGCareful readers of this blog will remember the strange wheels that were set in motion when Stu did a Hunt Down on former Twins pitcher Scott Erickson. A snippet on the movie being produced by Erickson and his wife, Lisa Guerrero, was picked up in the L.A. Times, which sparked Guerrero to seek us out, which led to this Q&A, and, ultimately, a face-to-face interview with both of them for this story that ran Sunday in the Arts and Entertainment section. The pair was all over the Twin Cities recently, showing up at a Swarm game, a Twins game and several media outlets. In our 45-minute interview with them, a few interesting facts emerged that couldn’t be wedged into a story about a movie involving a kidnapped puppet. So here are a couple of things you might find interesting about Scott Erickson:

1) He and former Twins DH Chili Davis are business partners in some Starbucks coffee shops. “You know baseball is not going to last forever,” Erickson said. “(Chili) and I have a nice little thing going in Arizona.

2) According to Guerrero, Erickson kept a detailed journal of every penny he spent — and what he spent it on — during his entire 17-year Major League career. That completely boggles our mind. Erickson, an accounting major in college, says he has always had a love of numbers. “Sudoku over the crossword,” he said.

3) The couple would like to produce a TV show (a sitcom, not a reality show) about baseball players’ wives.

If that doesn’t complete the circle, we don’t know what will.

The circle isn’t complete until Stu is cast in that Sitcom. Either that or Scott Erickson writes about Stu on some back alley blog and it gets picked up by the St. Cloud Times.

Rand, have you milked this relationship enough so that you can review the movie and tell us if it sucks?

I probably won’t go see it, and instead will continue to spend $4.36 every day at my local Starbucks, justifying it as my way to contribute to Scott & Chili’s nest egg.

By the way, is jama insinuating that RandBall is the equivalent of “some back alley blog”?

Until Stu gets a televised interview with Guerrero, the circle won’t be completely closed.

I will never not be amused by all of this.

If you get another interview, ask him what Curious George is like in real life.
