That appears to be the incorrect call, sir

Thanks to Dave MN for passing along (via Awful Announcing) one of the worst safe/out calls you will ever see in baseball. Braves vs. Nationals, a few nights back. Wow. Dick and Bert would not have been pleased. Even Bobby Cox didn’t quite know how to argue.

You know if he had slid head first he would have been safe.

The blog apparently exploded upon addition of this horrendous call…

I don’t even know where to begin there. That’s just astonishingly bad. That’s WCHA officiating bad.

For all you parents out there, you better sign your kids up for acting class fast. Once a baby jama enters the world they will have one goal: Make this list!

If I made $2 million per movie, I’m pretty sure I would want more than $11 per week for my allowance.

What are some other horrible safe/out calls that you can remember?

The only one that comes to mind involves one of Rand’s favorite teams from Atlanta and a husky Twins 1B that has a fishing show. (Sorry Rand I won’t bring it up again.)

Re: Money-making child stars

If you want the kid to not be a train wreck you invest the money and give them an $11/week allowance.

They don’t have the opportunity to burn it all away, and they’ll be set for life in case they aren’t famous anymore after age 20…

Dave

You mean child stars don’t always become adult stars? Isn’t that want adult entertainment is for?

Actually, I thought that was what Vh1 was for…

I dislike all umpires, referees, field judges, um…PGA officials, tennis line judges, and the guys in Australian Rules Football who rigidly point their index fingers outward after a goal. Nathan is right, WCHA refs really suck. They all suck.

I also dislike all French Canadians and left-handed hockey goalies. But I do like making blanket generalizations.

Did Bobby Cox get ejected after arguing the call?

Clarence, you’ve just been selected as a cast member for the next season of The Real World. Congratulations!

Wait, he didn’t say he would drink absurd amounts of alcohol and walk around with no clothes on.*

*I also don’t know Clarence maybe those 2 things should just be assumed.

Thanks Dave!

We’ll see what happens but I’m hoping they cast me as the rowdy promiscuous Southern sorority sister. Or maybe an introspective promiscuous Hawaiian sorority sister.

Re: Lefthanded hockey goalies

Shouldn’t this be discussed more frequently by televanalysts? Are hockey announcers (aside from the local homers) less melodramatic than other sports? It seems everywhere else, the glove-side/stick-side debate (and the difference based on handedness) would be made into mountains.

Whoa Whoa Whoa

Unless Jon is here that is way to in-depth talk about Hoc-key?

SCH-

You bring up a good point. Maybe there is less downtime in a hockey game so the analysts have less dead air to fill?

I just dislike left handed hockey goalies becuase all hockey goalies are basically wierdo’s. And as we all know left-handed people have a brain a third the size of right-handed people. It’s science.
