Stu’s Hunt Down: Willie Teal

teal.jpgProprietor note: We have to claim ignorance on this one. We had no idea who this was. So it was educational and entertaining! Carry on, Stu:

Name: Willie Teal

Claim to Fame, Minnesota: a 2nd-round pick out of LSU, Teal played DB for the Vikings from 1981 through 1986. His career numbers are plenty fine, but is probably best remembered as the last Viking to not tackle Tony Dorsett during Dorsett’s NFL-record 99-yard touchdown run.

Claim to Fame, Everywhere Else: you mean besides the aforementioned appearance in an NFL Films staple? Well, it says here that he was all-SEC in 1978 and 1979, and was LSU’s defensive MVP and co-captain in his senior year.

Where He Is Now: if you follow the previous link, you’ll see that he appears to run Teal Office Products, Inc., in Baton Rouge. The company doesn’t appear to have its own website, but as we’ve seen with Dunder Mifflin Infinity, that’s not necessarily a bad thing.

Glorious Randomness: there’s not a heckuva lot out there for Willie, so I open the comments to discussion of The Office and/or why NFL Films hates the Minnesota Vikings so much.

“…why NFL Films hates the Minnesota Vikings so much.”

- Jim Marshall’s wrong way run.

- Steve Young’s touchdown scramble.

- Any highlight reel celebrating the career of Barry Sanders, Walter Payton, and/or Brett Favre, etc.

In many NFL Films productions the Vikings look like the Washington Generals in a Harlem Globetrotters commercial.

Is it that the NFL hates the Vikings or that the Vikings hate themselves. I mean there own fans have written books about the fact that they hate the team.

Don’t forget that TD run from the QB who liked to drown dogs.

Last week was a hell of an episode. It was fun to watch Dwight and Michael both filling the role of “fish out of water” in New York but in such hilariously different ways.

Also, the Office vs. Jim dynamic that came after everyone got locked in.

Has Stu done Reggie Rutland/Najee Mustafa yet? This Hunt Down made me wonder what happened to that guy. Also Carl Lee. And Al Noga. And really, most of the rest of those Vikings defenses.

Nothing beat Dwight telling Ryan’s friend that he “resembles a Tolkien-esque character” and finding “Amazon Women” in line at the club.

I’m liking the inclusion of quasi-dramatic scenes and storylines to go along with the usual antics. Actually, I don’t care what storyline they use, I’ll watch Toby review employee files for a half an hour so long as the show is back on the air.

Marth, The: I totally forgot about Rutland/Mustafa. Definitely a candidate.
