Jon - the last two games, Young bailed out his pitchers. They were hammering Sideburn Jr. yesterday but Young was all over the field - tough plays that he made look easier than they were. And he knows how to hit the cutoff man as well as anyone.

Can I nominate myself? Obviously I'm good if I (have to) dump a girl/get dumped (you can choose which one is true) every 4-6 months. I'm mean really, what could I have possibly done wrong?

Ex's Best Friend: What did you see in him anyway?

Ex: He made me laugh.

The difference between Jones and Gomez: Gomez may do three horrible things per game, but he makes up for them by doing three outstanding things per game. Jones just did three horrible things and taunted us all with the prospect that he might someday do three outstanding things over the span of perhaps a month.

The difference between Jones and Gomez is age. JJ debuted when he was 24 and showed promise up through his age 27 year. During that time, I recall most opinions of him being pretty favorable. After that he dropped off into a lefty-platoon player with an erratic release point and we knew he wasn't changing - but he was still being given every opportunity to "learn to hit lefties", etc.

Gomez, on the other hand, is still just 22 and hope is strong that he'll figure out how to harness his wild/raw talents into more reliable/greater productivity.

If, in three or four years, he's still trying to bunt three out of every four plate appearances, attempting steals at random times and yet Gardy keeps batting him first hoping he'll straighten out, then we'll be just as frustrated as we were with JJ.

And yes, the Twins essentially found a way to ressurect Torii/JJ - with Delmon and GoGo. Although something got messed up and they ended up in each other's bodies.

"Kind of like Delmon Young now."

Delmon Young's just a bit of a headcase at the plate right now. But he's ten times the defense now that Jones ever was. He bailed Sideburns Jr. out more than a few times yesterday.

A couple of us were chuckling pretty good when Mauer went out to the mound yesterday. Looked like baseball's version of Gunnar and Matthew Nelson.

The Clemens and Malone stories are just perfect for today.

(Language on the vid is a bit Bissinger-esque, so earmuffs on the kids and volumes down at work.)

Too good not to share, and oh so appropriate for today. Coulton is playing at The Varsity tonight- should be a great show.

Sex HOF- After recent activity, I would guess that Ronaldo would have to be considered.

I don't think there was ever a player in any sport that induced as much groin-ravagery as Dennis Rodman.

A Sexual Hall of Fame? Interesting concept. Who else would be inducted? Considering the sex life of the average pro athlete or rock star, standards would have to be very high. I nominate Bill Clinton.
