What about Steve Walsh? Marc Trestman?

One of them did something good after going pro, right?

If we're going to include the Miller twins, Scurry and Khalid (meaning high school players) we have to include:

Shjon Podein (Stanley Cup with the Avs).

We have to. It's only fair

Herb Carneal, Ray Christensen, and (yes, it pains me to say this) Dave Lee belong on the list (or throw Halsey Hall off).

I miss Steve Cannon.

Adrian Peterson should not be on the list... yet. We're talking about a list encompassing 100 years. He's played one.

Puckett is still the sports figure who had the biggest impact on all Minnesotans, falling out and tragic death included. In fact, there's probably more separation for him at the top of the list.

Jama: I still think Puckett is the conquering hero in this city, despite his falling out. He is, and will likely remain for a very long time, the example to which all other Twin Cities pro athletes are held in terms of loyalty, performance, work ethic, community presence, personality, etc. I mean, all you have to do is look at how he was remembered after he passed. The bad things that happened with him were seen with sadness, not bitterness or disappointment. That's how much Kirby was loved.

KG could have been that if he'd stayed and if he'd won a championship here. However, KG will not be another Kirby, and neither will Torii or Johan. Marian Gaborik isn't followed as closely nor is he as publicly visible. Joe Mauer doesn't have the personality for it. Twin Cities sports fans long for players like Kirby because we had one. It's a hard pedigree to live up to.

Tim Herron has more tour wins than Tom Lehman. And is less self-righteous.

Also, did I not look closely or is Jim Marshall not on that list? Does the Proprietor need to rerun my first COW post? What was the office smoking that day?

Pull el-Amin, the Miller twins, Calvin the racist, Lehman... add Jim Marshall, Pat Neshek and Wally the Beerman.

Do you guys still think that Puckett would be #1 if this was done today?

I think Puckett had a little falling out after this came out.

If you go by news coverage Dominic Jones would make the list.

That being said, I don't think a whole lot of people want to be on a list with Dominic Jones though.

Given the Newspaper of the Twin Cities' reaction when Brett Favre retired (two and a half pages of coverage, fawning article after fawning article), I have to imagine that if they made this list today, he'd be top-40.
