The Internets: Raising questions about Karl Malone

malone.JPGESPN.com’s Jemele Hill has an interesting column on a topic we’re surprised has garnered so little attention recently: Karl Malone the father. Much of it is about his abandonment of Demetrius Bell, recently a 7th-round pick by the Buffalo Bills; she also gets (later on) into the even more troubling part that has been touched on in a few other outlets:

Roger Clemens’ alleged seedy indiscretions — including a possible sexual relationship with a 15-year-old — are nothing compared to what Malone has done. Malone reportedly impregnated Bell’s mother when she was 13 and he was a sophomore at Louisiana Tech.

*The NY Post finds Sebastian Telfair presumably keeping his ankle elevated with Joakim Noah at a certain type of club in New York. (Via The Big Lead).

*Two people have sent us this. You know what that means. We’ll repeat that Sassbottom did this exact thing about 10 years ago. He was way cooler.

*The Chicago Sun-Times version of the White Sox blow up doll story includes the phrase “slump-buster.” That makes us read more. It was not, however, the first time that sports and blow up dolls have crossed paths. Nor will it likely be the last.

I don’t really get why Karl Malone would accept two of his out-of-wedlock kids, but not the third. Seems kind of arbitrary. Then again, maybe he was hoping no one would find out about the whole “knocking-up-a-13-year-old-while-in-college” thing.

Too late. Now he’ll be known as a pederast and a deadbeat dad.

Funny, I always thought that Stockton looked more the part of the pederast.

Can you imagine how many girls would be knocked up if Joker had some of those leather pants and Rodman as his wingman? Shawn Kemp and Travis Henry would be begging him for advice.

Karl Malone should be sending Roger Clemens a couple of strippers right now. If not for Clemens problems this Malone story would have blown up a couple of weeks ago. I think I linked to an article in the Buffalo paper that broke this story about 2 weeks ago. Rand, ignoring me like Malone does his kids, didn’t pick up on it then. I’ll show him.

Jama: Rand was too busy wrongly attributing the work of Eli Whitney to Stu to be able to pay attention to your link

Uh-oh, it looks like a Randball punch line is soon going to be in the headlines again. (RAND HERE’S THE LINK TO THE R KELLY STORY)

jama: I remember the link fondly. I was getting back to it now because I’m surprised so few other outlets have picked up on it since then.

Jama: +1 for desperation

That was one delivery The Mailman wishes hadn’t been made.

Karl Malone played in 3 NBA finals but never won a championship. So his illegitimate son is drafted by…the Buffalo Bills. Karl may be a deadbeat dad, but he still managed to pass down his “also-ran” gene.

Speaking of deadbeats, Karl Malone wore number 32 with the Jazz. Who wore number 32 for the Bills? OJ Simpson. Coincidence? Yes.

Rand

I was hoping that you would be the first blog to pick it up. It would then be picked up by the Salt Lake Papers which would follow to the LA Times and me topping Stu. Karl Malone was way better than Scott Erickson.

Back in Malone’s day, they didn’t have all those fancy birth control methods…like pullin out.

Apparently they didn’t have laws against having sex with minors either. No wonder Braylon Edwards longs for the good ol’ days.

RE: Mailman. The 13-year-old business also puts his “I’m hunting for young Mexican girls” ‘remark in an even worse light. That shouldn’t have been possible, but there we are.

Can we use a term that is a little less offensive than Mexican?
