I personally think it is a hideous comment and that MJD is playing the, “huh, I don’t know what you are talking about…” card.

That being said, I personally like Michael Irvin and Keyshawn’s wardrobes. It makes up for the Dan Marino’s and Bernie Kosar’s of the world.

The sad thing is that if it was Steve Young wearing that suit and Chris Collinsworth had been smokin up, it wouldn’t even be an issue. The joke wasn’t about their race, it’s about the fact that Irvin is/used to be a coke-head, and they both have poor taste in wardrobe. Would it have been worse to say that the “watermelon” coming from his neck is sitting on the picnic table cloth he’s using for a shirt?

I am a bleeding-heart liberal. I think it’s both funny and not nearly racist. So, there’s that, then.

My reaction to Rick Reilly writing it would be, “Holy (redacted), Rick Reilly just made me laugh instead of cringe! CMS, break out the good scotch!”
