weekend-links.jpgOnce again, it’s time for the weekend links!

*The Preakness Stakes is today, meaning that every college kid in the Baltimore area is heading for the infield to perhaps take part in one of the breakout sports of 2007: Urinal racing! For more memories of the 2007 Preakness infield, check out Dan Steinberg’s field trip. Key quote from drunk young lass: “We’re not here for the horses, we’re here definitely for the, um … (turning to friend) What are we here for?”

*The NFL owners may be on the brink of following the old advice: If it ain’t broke, you ain’t trying hard enough.

*The Hockey Show went to Philly to check the credentials of the Flyer diehards. The task: spell the names of certain orange-and-black greats. The results: not good. Especially the young lady who spelled Briere “B-R-A.” Of course, the same things would probably happen if you went to the Xcel Center and started throwing “Radivojevic” and “Pouliot” and “Veilleux” at unsuspecting suburbanites.

*One man’s list of the five best finishes in college sports history. They’re all there: the Stanford Band, Laettner against Kentucky — and Winona State, too.

*Two links for soccer fans: first, EPL Talk has all of the ESPN ads for this summer’s Euro 2008. They also have some speculation — backed up with ESPN-sourced rumors — that ESPN Classic could become ESPN3, and feature as one of its centerpieces English Premier League coverage. I think I speak for everyone when I say: that’s fine, unless it involves JP Dellacamera.

Horse racing, football, hockey, college sports, and soccer - it’s RandBall’s Wide World of Sports! Enjoy your Saturday — get in some golf, or some fishing, but maybe stay off that ski-jump hill.

Man, that Winona State video is exceptionally difficult to watch.

Wow, Philadelphia should be swallowed by the ocean and the idiots living there shall return to the primordial ooze from which they never fully evolved.
