8.5 over-under on Vikings: Easy money or sucker bet?

Brandon keeps it short and sweet:

Have you seen the over/under on the Vikes wins? 8.5, according to Sportsbook.com. That seems low. Doesn’t it?

Sure does. Or does it?

Rand and I are nothing if not decisive. Right?

I would probably take that bet. I would even go double up for having 4 more wins than the Bears.

Where’s that half victory coming from? Are the Vikings playing a game against North Dakota State?

Joker says:

Dave

Please tell me you’re kidding…

Joker says:

May 21st, 2008 at 12:38 pm

They already have 2 games scheduled against teams for confidence building. The first is Oct. 19th at Soldier Field, the second is Nov 30th at home.

Dave MN says:

Definitely kidding. If ND State counts as a full loss for the Gophers, it should be a full win for the Vikings

Keep it coming. That way when the Bears somhow pull a game out of their [redacted] I can gloat even more. As it is right now I would take the over on that bet. The real question is, how fast can I bet the under on the Bears winning 8 games?

Matt Forte?

He’ll need to be Matt Fortissimo for the Bears to be any good this year.

They’re like 30:1 for the Super Bowl right now–I figured I’d drop $20 on that next week when I’m in Vegas.

roughkat says:

I say over. They were a couple of plays away from being over that last year and we’ve improved.

Brandon - You owe me $86 for that “weed” I sold you. How exited are you to smoke that? #3 pick has to OJ Mayo. McChump is golf buddies with his agent.

Stu says:

May 21st, 2008 at 1:28 pm

Over.

Brandon says:

May 21st, 2008 at 1:28 pm

Oh, I’ll definitely get high from that $86 … high enough to get a nosebleed. Somehow, I’m still really excited for next season.

I’ve been thinking all morning about who I want the Wolves to take, and I still haven’t decided. Anyone have a thought on this matter?

Jon says:

Brandon: +1 for comment #2.

I think the Wolves should sell the pick. Then they could run “Where fiscal responsibility happens” ads all summer.

Brandon

As long as it is not Gordon I won’t be terribly disappointed. That being said, I am going to continue the “Trade the pick” mantra until the draft. When players like Carmelo Anthony are being rumored to be traded you have to see what you can get. Everyone but “Don’t call me Al” Jefferson are available via trade.

Super Rookie says:

Under.

Only because they cut Brock Lesnar a few years ago.

Brandong and Roughkat- Is it to late to purchase a 4th of the T-Wolves tickets :)?

roughkat says:

May 21st, 2008 at 1:48 pm

Maybe we can trade for some Thunder tix.

Brandon says:

May 21st, 2008 at 1:57 pm

Considering the Wolves’ ringleader, let’s assume he can’t/won’t swing a major deal and goes with the logical, need-based draft pick of Lopez. With that, we’re trotting out a starting lineup of:

C – Lopez
PF – Jefferson
SF – Gomes
SG – McCants
PG – Foye

Right? What is that, 30 wins maybe? Looks like we’ll be enjoying some prime post-halftime seats this winter, fellow season tix holders.

MR says:

What about trying to convince Memphis that they want to move up 2 spots and trading for one of their 200 point guards?

Too bad the cheerleaders barely show up after halftime. So, while you might be sitting close to the floor, you sure as hell won’t be entertained.

How does Memphis get away with having such a big roster? McHale never would have released Ndudi Ebi if he knew their secret…

Stu says:

Not for nothing, and no offense meant to Brandon, but “Brandong” is a fantastic typo.

My guess is that Brewer continues to start. That way McCants takes 11 minutes to foul out of the bench instead of 10 as a starter

jama says:

May 21st, 2008 at 3:09 pm

Has anyone seen a mock draft that doesn’t have the Wolves drafting Brook “George” Lopez? That means there is absolutely no way that the Wolves will draft him. McHale is as anti-conformity as they come. I mean jeebus look at those sweaters, they scream “I follow no man.”

For you jama…incase you forgot what has happened at the most important position in the sport since winning the Superbowl…

Here’s hoping that Rand brought the RBBH on his trip, instead of organizing a not-so-secret tryst.

Shifty McShifterson says:

Seriously, people actually want the Wolves to draft Brook Lopez? Of the twins, Robin probably has the better chance of a long NBA career. Personally, I’d steer clear of either of them. In fact, I’d steer clear of drafting any center-type who doesn’t dominate at the college level. Projects are not worth lottery picks.

Ben says:

8.5 I’d take it

I want Mayo, and then trade up for JaVale McGee

scagmajor says:

Is Lopez really better than Kevin Love? Seems odd to me.
