Apparently Joakim Noah was busted for open container and marijuana possession on Sunday. See, these are the stories we missed while away! In any event, his father, the famous former tennis player Yannick Noah, has weighed in. Let’s just say that dad didn’t exactly bring down the heavy hand of discipline. Yannick Noah is perplexed by “all that fuss” surrounding the arrest of his basketball player son, who was charged with marijuana possession and having an open container of alcohol.
Chicago Bulls forward Joakim Noah was arrested Sunday in Gainesville, Fla., after an officer spotted him on a sidewalk holding a plastic cup. Police said that during a search at the station officers found marijuana in his pocket.
“I don’t understand all that fuss for just drinking a beer on the street,” Yannick Noah said Tuesday at the French Open.
The elder Noah won the title at Roland Garros in 1983. He created a sensation a few years before when he told a magazine writer he smoked marijuana.
A plastic cup? Was Joakim at a Gainesville freshman house party? Was the cup red? Did he pay his five bucks like everyone else, or did he get in for free because of his status? These are the hard questions we need to be asking.

I have so few positive feelings for Noah that I’m not sure if this makes me like him more or less.

Can you blame Noah for going to a frat party? Have you seen the co-eds down at Florida? I’m not sure why he even left for the NBA early. I’d rather have stayed down in Gainesville and gotten as much [redacted] as humanly possible.

Am I wrong for wanting the suit pictured above to be what Noah was wearing when he was apprehended? Because I really want it to be so.
I can blame him. When you’re in the NBA, you have your own frat parties. Except you don’t get overcharged for cups and have to deal with a bunch of d-bags calling you “bro”, because it’s all chicks.
I think all pro athletes should have party liaisons to just keep them from being idiots. You must go outside on the city streets with beer and weed? Hand it to the party liaison! Need to be back in Mankato in for camp in two hours? The party liaison will help you get a cab, or pay someone off the street a grand to do it!
