Finishing off an all-NBA day: KG and NBA 2K9
Posted on June 6th, 2008 – 4:27 PMBy Michael Rand
We’re about to leave beautiful North Mankato. KG is the man, but we wonder: did he really say all of this? From a press release:
2K Sports, the sports publishing label of Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc., today announced that 11-time NBA All-Star and 2008 Defensive Player of the Year Kevin Garnett of the Boston Celtics will be featured as the cover athlete and spokesman for this year’s most highly anticipated basketball video game, NBA 2K9. After leading the Boston Celtics to the greatest single-season turnaround in NBA franchise history, Garnett will lend his unmatched passion and on-court intensity to provide dedicated fans with the most fun and riveting basketball simulation experience available.
“NBA 2K is where it’s AT! End of story,” said Garnett, who is currently playing in the NBA Finals against the Los Angeles Lakers. “It’s the game I play, the game my friends play, and the game anyone in the league serious about video games plays. NBA 2K is the real deal, and until 2K Sports find a way to plant an elbow in your chest, it’s the closest thing to actually being there on the court. I can’t tell you how pumped I am to be on the cover of NBA 2K9 – it’s a real honor. Now watch out! Because this fall 2K Sports and I are going to deliver the best basketball video game out there, period.”
It’s hard to express all-caps in a quote, but apparently he was just that excited.

Usually “end of story” means you stop talking. If only that had happened here.
P.S. I am proud to endorse What’s-the-clearance-Clarence for COW honors.
They took out the last part of the quote, though:
“When I play NBA 2K, I’m sitting in the house loading up the pump, I’m loading up the Uzis, I’ve got a couple of M-16s, couple of nines, couple of joints with some silencers on them, couple of grenades, got a missile launcher. I’m ready for war.”
Are you sure it’s not Stephen A. Smith endorsing NBA 2K9?
“We’re about to leave beautiful North Mankato”.
I see Eagan won their semifinal, congratulations to them. I’ll just come out and say what you probably can’t: The woman who is Eagan’s head coach certainly shatters the typical softball coach stereotype. The guy that coached the softball team when I was in high school was a 350 lb. math teacher with perma-pit stains.

Actually, Stensaas’s gamer has “The Eagan coach? I would ruin that, brah” as the base of its reverse pyramid.
Thats funny stuff. Good to know that Mr. Stensaas escaped the Southie projects.
