Guest post COW: Dave MN on the bold Jared Allen

Let’s try something a little new, starting this week: whenever you see a comment that is Commenter Of the Week-worthy, e-mail it to us. We’ll compile a list of the week’s best efforts and run them on Friday to spark the voting discussion. That said, here’s Dave MN’s COW effort:
Wow, what a weekend to spend in the office! You know, it’s kind of nice when you don’t have to see your team completely explode (in the bad way) against the team in front of them in the standings, because you’re doing an accessibility review on a web-based mail application. However, MLB Gameday kept me from being totally shielded from the sheer awfulness that has taken place over the past three days. You know, sometimes Gameday is a beautiful thing. This weekend, it made me want to break the high school state record for the discus, laptop division. 33-10 over three games?! Joe Crede?! RINCON!!! Well, at least, the last person’s career with the Twins will end this week on waivers (rather than the lucrative trade that should have probably happened two years ago …).
That’s enough about the Twins. They ran into a buzz-saw this weekend. The Sox had the same thing happen to them right before (or was it after?) the All-Star break a couple years ago at our hands. A karmic wash, I suppose.
Really, what warrants discussion, on what is obviously his favorite day, is that Jared Allen expects the Vikings to go to the Super Bowl. Maybe we need to hook a device up to the microphones or digital recorders that we interview Mr. Allen with, because I don’t know that there are too many rational people in Minnesota that would make that proclamation about a Vikings team that didn’t make the playoffs last year. Rocket has a book full of reasons why he wouldn’t make that statement.
So the question goes to you: Do the Vikings make the Super Bowl this year? What would you be willing to risk on that prognostication? Something minor like never getting a RandBall T-shirt, something moderate like never getting to be COW again, or something important like your firstborn child (born or unborn)?
