RandBall event/contest: NBA draft

lopez.jpgAs many of you know, we are participating in the Wolves’ “pay the pick” promotion in which we obtained two season tickets for the per game price of the Wolves’ lottery pick (No. 3, as it turned out). Well, in order to divvy up the tickets, we are going to need to have a lottery of our own. And in order to determine the lottery order, we have decided to have a competition to predict the NBA draft, which is next Thursday, June 26, at 6:30 p.m. We think it is high time for another RandBall gathering, and this seems to be the perfect opportunity. We’ll come up with a location shortly, but someplace easily accessed from Interlachen would be keen considering we’ll likely be coming straight from covering the U.S. Women’s Open. Even if you can’t make it, though, we encourage you to give us your mock draft lottery. We’ll come up with a scoring system, and the person closest to the actual and real truth will win a pair of our Wolves tickets to a game sometime this year (prize or punishment? You be the judge). We’ll also likely send out an invitation via e-vite. If you do not receive one because of some oversight or because we don’t like you, please give us a shout and we will rectify the situation or continue to ignore you. In the mean time, e-mail us or note in the comments 1) your attendance interest and 2) your mock draft (lottery only). Bonus points will likely be awarded for hitting the No. 3 pick correctly.

Alas, the Groveland A’s contest their soon-to-be fierce rivalry with the soon-to-be despised Groveland Blue Jays in parent-child tee-ball at that hour. C-Dog was 3 for 3 with 3 runs scored in the A’s most recent clash, a 21-21 tie where no outs were recorded.

Hard to believe we’re not having a similar competition for the NHL Draft.

Obvious use of the royal we.

Let it be known that RandBall, Brandon and I are using this contest to determine the draft order of the season tickets. Even we have something on the line for this one.

Let it also be known that the “prize” for this game is valued at a whopping $6. I’m convinced this is part of the reason we still have no RandBall t-shirts.

Somewhere between Interlachen and Mpls, yes? I suggest Bunny’s or Park Tavern.

Hey, I don’t work that Friday, and the timing isn’t terrible, so long as you guys don’t take off at 7:15 or whatever.

Put me down as a maybe.

Hard to believe we’re not having a similar competition for the NHL Draft.

Sardonicism, thy name is Marth.

Why, for you, Stu, I’d stay out until 8:30.

Brandon: good choices. Though I did forget that Thursdays are cheap wing night at Legends, starting at (I think) 7 p.m. … that might be the winner, even if it’s not quite as convenient.

Sounds good; I’ve never been. [Bowing head in shame.] And we all know how you love your wings on Redactular nights. I’ll be sure to bring a bib and some wet naps for you this time.

The outstate rube would like to know where Legends is, and if it’s that place that S. U. Perrookie was talking about with the immodestly-attired wait staff.

I believe S.U.Perrookie was speaking of Alary’s. Legends is in legendary N.E. Minneapolis. Let’s make that our place of reckoning.

825 Hennepin Avenue East.

Having never attended a redactular and being an NBA aficionado, mark me down for a quality maybe. I’ll email my 100% correct Mock Draft this weekend.

When did Minnesota get an NBA team?

Beasley falls to 3rd and the wolves trade down.

The pick order becomes really obvious when you use this point of view…What would have to happen in order for us to look back at this draft 2 weeks from now and be disappointed?
