tigerwoods.JPGAssociated Press reporter Doug Ferguson writes that Tiger Woods is done for the year, according to an anonymous source. From Ferguson:

Tiger Woods will miss the rest of the season because of a left knee that will require more surgery, a person with knowledge of the decision said Wednesday. Woods had surgery to clean out cartilage April 15, but later suffered a stress fracture while preparing for his return to golf. That’s what caused his pain during the U.S. Open, which he won in a 19-hole playoff Monday over Rocco Mediate. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the announcement was not official. Woods was expect to discuss his future on his web site later Wednesday.

Reader Ryan M. also alerts us to the Golf Channel’s report, which makes no mention of his season being over but does say he is having ACL surgery

So, um, the 2008 golf season was fun while it lasted. Come on back for the PGA at Hazeltine in 2009, folks.
