That 'ridiculous .314 batting average with runners in scoring position' isn't the 'best stat in the Twins favor.'
It's the worst.
File under, 'U' for unsustainable.
BTW it's worse than the 29 points better than the next best AL team. Its 42 points better than the Twins team batting average.

I'll always support this team but that doesn't mean I think they are going anywhere this year. They just swept a D'Backs team that has won something like 1 of it's last 10 series. They also swept the Nationals who are probably the best example of what is going on with our nation right now. They are probably the worst team in the league currently.

I originally thought the Twins would win 72 games. Half way through the season I am willing to give them another 3 wins and I am now projecting 75 wins. This team is very young and young teams generally take a nose dive as the long season goes along. I'm predicting August is the month the Twins go something like 8 games under .500.

And people call me a hater? Why can't we just enjoy the unexpected ride? The Twins are a plucky, better-than-average baseball team who, when sharp, make out-of-town broadcasters salivate (See Grace, Mark and Sutton, Daron). Are they as talented as Detroit or Chicago, or even Cleveland? No. Will they win the division? I wouldn't bet money on it. But can they make the next few months leading up to football season just a little bit more bearable? Absolutely.
For the record, I'll say the good guys take two in Whale's Vagina, capped by Scotty Baker outdueling upstart Josh Banks Thursday night. Take the Kool-Aid. Drink it in.

The Twins are a .500 team and I refuse to raise my expectations until the sun shines on my Flex 40 package.

This team is set to peak in 2010 with 75% of the current roster.

"are you, the fans, in or out in your support of this confusing and often ridiculous team?"

I'm in. One good thing about baseball is that it usually doesn't work out to hope for losses and a higher draft pick.

For 2008 I am in the "hoping for improvement from Gomez, Young, Casilla, Kubel, and the stable of young pitching." camp. Any wins are gravy. Go ahead and make any trades that sacrifice this year for a better 2009, 2010, or 2011.

And Stu is exactly right. What else are you going to do? Go outside? Read a book? That's for hippies.

Wow, did I butcher that <a href="http://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Homer_Simpson" rel="nofollow">Homer Simpson quote</a>:

<i>There's an empty spot I've always had inside me. I tried to fill it with family, religion, community service, but those were dead ends.</i>

Carry on with your day.

As noted at <a href="http://tnabacg.blogspot.com/2008/06/minnesota-three-stars-for-sunday_23.html?showComment=1214226960000#c7993336811234796108" rel="nofollow">Jon's place</a>, they are so losing 2 of 3 at San Diego.

They will be a little above and a little below .500 all season. Right now they're a little above. In two weeks, they'll probably be a little below. That's been the pattern the first 76 games, why would it change now?

Oh, that wasn't the question you were asking, was it, Michael? Of course I'll support them. Football doesn't kick off for a couple months yet, what else am I going to do? The dead ends of family and religion offer me no real choice.
