We grabbed that image of Michelle Wie as she was setting up to fire the second of her nine shots on No. 9. It’s not quite “inside the ropes,” but we weren’t quite sure we should be doing it (camera phone was on silent, so there was no click), which we offer as an explanation as to why it looks like a 3-year-old took it. And no, we didn’t jinx her. That second shot, a punch out from the rough and under some trees, was probably her best of the entire hole.
Line of the day: Talking to Patrick Reusse after Wie’s blow-up hole, we thought after watching she had only carded an 8. “No, I’m pretty sure they count all of the strokes here. Not like when you play.”
Indeed. It turned out we hadn’t seen a duffed chip.

You need to tell the lady that got in the way of the picture that unless she just escaped from prison, her outfit is not acceptable.
So, Bizarro World Popeye is Wie’s caddy?
Apparently the caddy always stands like that Brandon. It’s finally paying off. Left calf, Popeye without spinach; right calf, spinach time.

I’m sure the 9th tee has a Call Box to the lunch counter in the clubhouse. Press the button and say “This is Doug Woog. I’m watching Natalie Gulbis and now I’m in the mood for a roast beef sandwich.”
Well at least we know that Yi Jialian will not be traded to the Wolves now. Or Richard Jefferson.
