He had, literally, been working there since he got back from the Korean War. He said: "If you hear 'FORE', first cover your johnson and your head, then turn your back to the sound". I'm not sure if he had the correct advice or not, but he had over 40 years of golf course maintenance experience. He also drank a 6-pack, alone in his truck, every day during lunch break.
