The Huntdown

Name: Bill Curley

Claim to Fame, Minnesota: came to the Wolves in the JR Rider trade, left as part of the Stephon Marbury trade. Other than that, not much.

Claim to Fame, Everywhere Else: although an NBA journeyman, he was kind of a big deal at Boston College. Curley was Big East Rookie of the Year in 1991, the team MVP all four years he was there, and a main component of the BC team that made the Elite Eight in 1994 with a huge upset of top-ranked North Carolina.

Where He Is Now: lives in Duxbury, Mass., has a wife and three kids, runs the Bill Curley Basketball Clinic, and coaches the Thayer Academy boys’ basketball team.

Glorious Randomness: Procul Harem’s classic rock chestnut, A Whiter Shade of Pale, was not written about Bill Curley. But it could have been.

For Discussion: suggestions for future Hunt Downs are always welcome. Please leave your requests in comments. And before you ask, yes, I’ve tried to find Hosken Powell. No luck so far.
