poet.jpgShe has wowed you with her comments and beguiled you with her feminine charms. Now AZGopherGirl will delight you with this hard-earned Commenter Of the Week post. Take it away, AZGG:

Several weeks ago my husband picked me up from the airport after a trip to the homeland. He was driving a new (to us) vehicle. Said vehicle was purchased “for me”, without my knowledge, input, or blessing. Surprise! I don’t think I gave him quite the Lexus-wrapped-in-a-ginormous-red-bow reaction he was hoping for.

I do like the vehicle, and I’m sure on some level, he was trying to make me happy. But a move like this defies all semblance of marital control I pride myself on maintaining. I immediately wondered what his ulterior motives were (the frontrunner to date is that he thinks he’s in a better position to upgrade his own vehicle if my ride is satisfactory). Regardless of his reasons, it’s clear I must wrest control back.

To remind him who’s boss, I thought it might be fun to order a personalized license plate for the new ride. They must be cheap in Arizona, because everyone has one. To see my Hawkeye fan husband tool around town with GO4GIRL plates would be well worth the extra car payments he incurred. Shockingly, no one else in the state has scooped up GO4GIRL, so it’s mine for the taking.

A quick search of the database retrieves some other interesting finds: Plates containing VIK lead those containing PACK, 463 – 434. Both, however, run a distant third to the results for PUG (756).

GO4HOKY , GO4MN, MNGO4Z – thank God I’m not alone here.

GO4GZUS, GO4GOD – thank God for everything, apparently.

GODENNY – could be read two ways, but I think we all know the Denny to which this refers.

FAVRE – 60 contain FAVRE. Seriously?

TJACK – 24 contain TJACK. What are the odds it’s homage to the TJACK we know and love?

What are your favorite personalized plates, real or imagined? Any suggestions for my car?

There once was a gentle elderly lady in my charming Rice County hometown (yes, Stu’s not the only one familiar with outstate drinkin’) who enjoyed dining at restaurants. So much so, she wanted her license plates to reflect it. Her intentions clearly betrayed her, as I many times witnessed with my own eyes, the state’s only “EAT OUT” plates.

I have a soft spot for ICU81MI, despite its inscrutability.

State law apparently requires anyone buying a Bug to get a personalized plate “LOVEBUG”, “LUVBUG”, “LVMYBUG” or some other variation… Plus, a daisy antenna decoration.

Rand’s license plate actually reads

“PUGLIFE”

Effectively mixing his two life-long loves: Pugs and the late Tupac Shakur

Exquisite.
I wonder, is that plate is available in Arizona? As a pug owner and rap connoisseur myself, I must contract AZGopherGirl to investigate.

Latte - It’s free! Unfortunately, you’ll have to stick with the generic plates instead of the Pet Friendly Spay and Neuter version you’d rather sport (those only allow for 5 characters).

Say, Lou, didya hear the one about the guy who couldn’t afford personalized plates, so he went and changed his name to J3L2404?

Dave

I stopped by the Pyramid brewery while out in Seattle, just for you. They make some [redacted] good beer. The Curve Ball, a Blonde Ale, was probably the best summer beer I have had in quite some time. Check it out if you haven’t already.

jama -

Grumpy’s had a really good Pyramid beer on tap last fall. I can’t remember exactly what it was called, but it was awesome!

So yeah, I’d totally check that place out if I get out there.
