The Friscalating Dusklight: Loving the Brewers and Twins?
Posted on July 24th, 2008 – 4:45 PMBy Michael Rand
Diddy sent us the link to this Onion piece, which is rather amusing. More importantly, we use Diddy — a Milwaukee native living in Minneapolis — as an example. Diddy, you see, cheers for both the Twins AND Brewers. He has hats celebrating both teams’ catalogs. Frankly, we’re not offended by that. But how is such a thing possible? You can’t love the Vikings and Packers. You can’t love the Gophers and Badgers. Is it the direct competition thing? Is it the small market thing? Is it the harmlessness factor (Brewers haven’t done squat since 1982)? That is your question to ponder. Tomorrow will be an abbreviated day (golf and shenanigans with Dad). But we think you’ll like what Stu cooks up.

Maybe it is because we only compete against the Brewers in interleague play. They aren’t a division rival.
Either way, Molitor is a Twin!
They’re the nearby NL team, so its ok.
Quick remark about the Onion article though. Prince Fielder went vegan this past year, so wouldn’t he be imagining CC looking like a mock hot dog smothered in meatless chili, perhaps covered with some vegan nacho cheese?
I think it is a harmlessness thing. In Cleveland, Steeler fans are treated with contempt, while Bengal fans are almost pitied. In Boston, I attended a playoff game in my Indians regalia and received no abuse at all, while a Yankee advocate was showered with beer.
From my experience, Sconnies have quite a bit of respect for the Twins organization… Be prepared for a mouthful if you mention the Cubbies though.

I think they would have preferred my original submission, Breaking Down Ron Coomer’s Colonoscopy: Good God, Man, Is That a License Plate?, but I understand that you have to edit for content, Michael.
I hope you sickos enjoy what I and a surprise guest have cooked up. I’ll be on the road and unable to check in until Sunday, probably.
Earlybird COW nomination:
World of B, for, “I say we package Livan, Mike Lamb, Adam Everett and Brian Bass for Papelbon. See if they’ll throw in Lowell, too. Solves all our issues.”
Got home from work as C-Dog was arriving home from an appointment with the vision therapist. He proudly announced that he had chosen a baseball card as his prize this week (bribe for cooperation).
The baseball card is…
Kris Benson
I’m dreading Mrs Fasolamatt asking “what’s he famous for?”
At least it wasn’t an Anna Benson card! You’d have a lot more ’splaining to do.
newbie hits it on the head - even when the Brew was in the AL, they weren’t in our division. So we’ve never been real rivals with them like we are with the Pack & UW.
