A Hinote indeed: Former Elk River star weds playmate
Posted on July 29th, 2008 – 12:45 PMBy Michael Rand
Dan Hinote was already a local boy who made it big. Hinote, raised in Elk River, eventually went to the U.S. Military Academy before becoming the first player from there to be drafted by an NHL club. He parlayed being drafted by the Avalanche into a nice NHL career, which has continued with the St. Louis Blues. And, over this past weekend, he got married.
To a former Playboy playmate.
Who is the sister of Jenny McCarthy.
And Jim Carrey attended his wedding dressed as Fidel Castro.
Mr. Hinote is shooting from close range into the goal of life. From the STLToday blog and Rocky Mountain News (and many thanks to one J. Shelman for the tip on this):
Regardless of what the Blues did in free agency this summer, nobody in the organization had bigger offseason plans than Dan Hinote. On Saturday in Colorado, where Hinote was one of the city’s most eligible bachelors while playing for the Avalanche, the 31-year-old Blues forward will say “I do” to Playmate model Amy McCarthy.
The 31-year-old McCarthy, who was the “cyber girl of the month” for Playboy.com in January 2005, moved to St. Louis and has attended many Blues games the past two seasons. She is a personal trainer for obese children locally, volunteers at Children’s Hospital and also writes for a St. Louis magazine.
Older sister Jenny McCarthy, a fellow Playmate and the girlfriend of actor Jim Carrey, has attended at least one Blues game. Jenny might be the more popular of the two, but together they drew quite a bit of attention.
And …
The wedding party of 10 groomsmen and 10 bridesmaids wore traditional garb for the ceremony, but the guests were asked to show up in their favorite ’50s costumes, which would explain the dead celebs who attended the wedding.
Castro, in full military garb and a fake beard, was among the last guests to arrive, which seemed a bit odd because he had a reserved front-row seat on the bride’s side. After the nuptials, Mr. On the Town spotted Castro walking arm-in-arm with the bride’s sister, actress Jenny McCarthy, out to the parking lot.
Was it? Could it have been? Yup, superstar Jim Carrey, Jenny’s beau, slipped in and out of the ceremony almost undetected except when Jenny’s 5-year-old son, Evan, started getting spooked by the get-up. “It’s me, Jimmy,” I was told that Carrey said while pulling down his beard to soothe the troubled young ‘un.
Congrats to the happy couple, but mostly to Dan Hinote.

Top shelf.
Here’s guessing Hinote went five-hole to consecrate the marriage…
Threadjack
All of the talk on other blogs about naming fantasy football teams actually has me ready for Year 2 of the RBFFL.
I can’t wait to find out how I screw up my draft this year.
Roughkat, any idea on when that will be?
/Threadjack
Here’s to the happy couple, may you enjoy a long life of putting biscuits into baskets.
For her sake I hope he doesn’t get whistled for high sticking.
He needs to drive to the crease and pound away to the short side.
This guy can do some serious damage once he gets inside the slot.
“cyber girl of the month”
I think the Star Wars Kid and Tay Zonday have been cyber guy of the month at one time. These 2 awards clearly have nothing in common.
Make his head bleed!
I think it can be assumed that he made her hit the Hinote
Kick save and a beauty.
/help me Marth, my snark is out of its element
And he’s off to the box!
I hear she’s known for her wrister
Jama:
She’s also known for her fine stick-handling
He won’t have to worry about scoring an own goal for awhile.
OFF TOPIC
Has anyone seen Step Brothers? Would I be better off waiting for Tropic Thunder and Pineapple Express, or maybe using the money to see Dark Knight a second time?
I suppose he won’t be wearing a helmet anymore now.
lattewarrior: I’m going to go out on a limb and say that if you’ve seen a commercial or two for Step Brothers, you’ve probably already seen the funniest parts of the movie (I have not seen it). I would hold off for Pineapple Express if I were you. Or go to The Dark Knight again, you can’t really go wrong with that one.
It’s best to hack up the crease to keep other players away.
/getting desperate
I was really impressed by Dark Night. This was an extremely well done film. I never go to the same movie in the theatre twice but I’m thinking of going to watch this again.
Step Brothers looks like it will land slightly above Semi-Pro and Blades of Glory. It’s a rental at best in my opinoin.
Will Farrell needs to take a break. Less is more in some cases.
Somebody call for a Zamboni?
Scoring the hockey references in this thread:
Stu: EVEN (+1 for the first post, -1 for the second)
Dave MN: EVEN (+2 for being the first to use “five-hole”, -1 for terrible “Hinote” pun, +2 for “stick-handling”, -3 for “own goal” - a soccer term almost never used in hockey)
roughkat: +1 for NHL 95 reference
Brandon: +2 (was +4 until he got desperate)
jama: +4 (one for each reference)
Nathan: +2 for combining two cliches into one reference
+1 to Marth for doing the nettlesome math.
I coached in ER a long time ago when High tops was just a little kid. I am guessing that the best man and groomsmen may have included some past Elks hockey heroes, anyone out there know who they were????
5 hole? I can only think of 3?
Tay Zonday was my TA in American Studies last year. He is a jackass, and I’m pretty sure that voice is fake. It sounds like he almost poops his pants every time he talks like that.
Let’s hope she didnt take a slap shot to the face!
Man, he just signed a long term contract. Probably a no-trade clause. Hope he didn’t leave anything on the table…
