Tuesday (This year’s busts) edition: Wha’ Happened?

bust.jpgWe’re entering a very special time of August: fantasy football draft time. The *Official RandBall Fantasy Football League will hold its draft tomorrow; if there is enough interest, we are willing to put together a second 10-team league to do an online draft at a later date, with that league’s winner facing the *Official league winner for supreme domination. With that in mind, we have spent approximately zero hours preparing. Seriously. So now we are going to come in cold and tell you not only which NFL teams will be busts this year — visually represented by that picture, obviously — but also which fantasy players will flame out as well.

In the NFL:

*Indianapolis Colts: They won’t be busts in the 5-11 sense, but we see this as a team that will win more like 10 games instead of the 12-14 they’ve won every year since 2003. Injuries, age and the adjustment of a new home stadium will make them struggle to get into the playoffs.

*New York Giants: Classic Super Bowl hangover. They’re in a reasonably tough division and have yet to prove consistency. They could easily miss the playoffs.

*Green Bay Packers: They go from 13-3 to 9-7 and perhaps out of the playoff picture.

Fantasy busts:

Adrian Peterson: Wait! Hear us out. We love the PJ as much as anyone, but we’re just not ready to commit to him as a No. 2 overall back. He had a lot of monster games and a lot of clunkers last year. He could wind up with 1,500 yards and 14 touchdowns this year and still kill you in week 15. He’s the most exciting player to watch in football and the man who turned around the Vikings; he just might be a fantasy back that kills you. Just saying.

Marshawn Lynch: Not sold. He’s this year’s running back who falls back to 900 yards and 4-5 TDs.

Steven Jackson: Fool me once … won’t get fooled again.

Tom Brady: Last year he had 50 touchdowns and was remarkable; it was also his first with more than 28 touchdowns. It’s something to consider.

So: Who are your NFL and fantasy busts? (Wait: Joker, you know what we’re asking for here, right?)

Fasola-link! The dirt on, well, dirt.
