The Friscalating Dusklight: Pop Culture Time Capsule

The second installment of this feature brings us to the Nu Shooz song, “I Can’t Wait.” At a time when bad hair metal ruled our life, this catchy little pop tune was a guilty pleasure. We will embed the video, but first we would like to supply an interpretive running diary:
Wrenches … banana. Hmmm.
Flapping garbage can, dog in sunglasses. Strange imagery and animation, allowing future generations to pinpoint “mid-80s” without even looking it up.
What’s in the vase? Oh, a small shark. Right.
(30-40 seconds of strange close-ups and pure nonsense)
(repeat, with different tools)
Guess what I’m thinking?
Close that box! Strange things!
And … cut!
Our best overall thematic/conceptual guess: Nu Shooz found a rummage sale one morning and shot a video that afternoon. Seriously, nothing happened. But go ahead and have a look for yourself. You can’t help but think the song is at least catchy.

Rufus Rand, a World War I aviator who was part of the family that owned Minnegasco, built his namesake tower in 1929 in a distinctive Art Deco style that earned it a place on the National Register of Historic Places.
Rand Tower is sold… Do I smell a new Redactular HQ?
Or at least money to get a T-shirt made?
Nu Shooz says, “I-I-I can’t wait… for my RandBall T-shirt!”
Now here’s a feature I can get behind.
