Best of YouTube: Boom Goes the Dynamite

You’ve (probably) seen it before, but it’s always worth another look. But don’t feel bad for Brian Collins, the young man in the video. He actually has a job now in TV. At a station in Waco, Texas. Where he gets to do stories on a plan about teachers bringing guns to school. So everything worked out for him, right? And … Boom goes the dynamite! Never gets old.

I gotta say, I’m looking forward to later today, when we have posts about Hamsterdance and “Bert is Evil”.

Congrats on the early lead in the U’pickem. It must be all that insider info you get working for a newspaper.

If you’re that guy, don’t you gotta OWN the “Boom” clip? I mean, shouldn’t his bio (linked behind Rand’s linked) start with “His career began with a boom …” or something? If you don’t own up to it, aren’t you automatically hiding from it, and therefore encouraging people to laugh at you behind your back?

And of course, “Texas Teachers Bringing Guns into School” doesn’t even phase me.

Pretty much my favorite thing ever. In fact, I use “Boom Goes the Dynamite” in casual conversation all the time. For example:

“Dude, Morneau just went boom goes the dynamite off Masa Kobayashi!”

“Cindi Peterson and I went boom goes the dynamite after junior prom.”

“Aaron Rodgers went boom goes the dynamite all over the Vikings on Monday Night.”

It also works very well as an acronym [BGTD], particularly in text messages, blog posts and on TPS reports.

You should see the amount of inside info I get. Here’s just a few tidbits:

- Styrofoam is not made from kittens
- Lyndon Johnson did not provide the voice of Yosemite Sam
- Roy Rogers was not buried inside his horse
- Audrey Hepburn never weighed 400 pounds
- Salt water does not “chase the thirsties away”
- Licking an electrical outlet will not turn you into a Mighty Morphin Power Ranger

I tried watching that video, but I must have had a bad internets connections cause there were long pauses with no audio… what, it was like that for everyone… oh.

Seriously though, that must have a been a college broadcast “training” station. Those people looked way too young.
